Sometimes when stuck in bad traffic, what I feel I need is an M-1 tank!

See Nevada's new electric bicycle laws cover any electric bicycle that can go up to 32 km/hr . Those commuting times are ridiculous. Most people consider jogging to be 8-11 kmph, so on a bad day you are going slower than joggers. |

You should have been there when they repaved streets on two major routes at once!
One time, and this has happened only that once, it took me over an hour to cover the 150 meters from the parking lot to Conscripto avenue(*). I would have loved to have gone as slow as a 120-year old arthritic jogger trying to haul a two-ton weight. (*) On a good day this takes 2 minutes (traffic lights). On an average day 5-10 minutes. On a bad day 15-30 minutes. I have to get past a three-way intersection where drivers know the red light means "obstruct the path of incoming traffic on the intersection." I think it is all still in the lab and will take a generation to make it practical. The President is a fink. |

On the one hand, whatever decreases the need for human interaction :) On the other hand, I'd have to go downstairs and outside, then back inside and upstairs, when we order pizza at the office.

I was curious about that as well. Will companies invest in one of these vehicles if they have to give a discount since you must go into the street. Also in big cities there is always the possibility of someone running up and muscling the pizza away from you. Will you be able to request human or automated delivery? Of course the idea of "car-free" suburbs would require automated ground based delivery systems. I would think that some of those pizza delivery vehicles would also need seats to take the residents to nearby parking garages where they can pick up personal or rental vehicles suitable for long distance driving. |

When I lived in a house, the gate in the fence was at the street. So that wouldn't have been a problem. At the office it could be allowed into the parking garage, I expect. But I'd still have to make the trip downstairs. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | Robot delivery vehicles will be ripe targets for thieves. No driver, no guy with a gun to worry about. Disable the car, steal the contents, easy peasy. It's why parked cars are such easy targets, there are guys who make a living stealing GPS's out of parked cars. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
