It is in a normal development, I believe the lots are about 10,500 sqft. I don't know if you consider that a lot or a little. In Las Vegas that is a big property but it seems normal in Florida. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |

I am a girly man. I have never changed oil, it has been about 28 years since I mowed a lawn, it has been about 45 years since I cleaned a gutter (we don't have them in Las Vegas). At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |

Might be more inertia with Drich. If a body is at rest, it will remain at rest There was a guy so lazy he had 50lbs of CLEAN laundry picked up by a laundry service, so it would come back folded. 0(filched from reddit) "Trumpsplain (def.) explaining absolute nonsense said by TRUMP. |

The first law of thermodynamics is a version of the law of conservation of energy, adapted for thermodynamic processes. In general, the conservation law states that the total energy of an isolated system is constant; energy can be transformed from one form to another, but can be neither created nor destroyed. The total energy of my system is constantly zero. My wife and I are so lazy when the laundry piles up we will take it to a Fluff'N'Fold to be laundered and folded. The problem is that we have so many clothes that we only do a laundry when we run out of clothes. There will be 6 to 10 loads of laundry from just the two of us and we will just send it out and pay by the pound. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |

I do lawn and gutters but not oil changes. Does that make me transgender? "but if you make yourselves sheep, the wolves will eat you." Benjamin Franklin |

I did all my oil changes for decades until the car companies made it almost impossible to get to the oil filter. I knew a guy in the mid-60s who had a 55 Mercury and changed the the oil once a week every Saturday. He would order 55-gallon drums delivered from Montgomery Ward and he had an actual pit in his garage. He could change the oil in 5 minutes. As a result his car was on the road years longer than it should have been. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I don't understand the obsession with changing your own oil. Its more expensive than taking it somewhere to have it changed, its messy, and it uses up a significant portion of time, and then you have to find a place to take the used oil (which takes even more time and sometimes more money, and yes some will give you money for the used oil, but its marginal, and you have to factor the time it takes to get to such a location) and take it there (which depending on where you live can be even more time consuming, and often you end up taking it to an oil change place where this could have all been over with already....) Even as a kid, my dad would tell me "a lot of people think this is a valuable skill for men to know, but you spend more money on supplies and time on disposal than paying somebody to do it and it eats up a lot of your day" (paraphrasing). Essentially you are paying more money to do work yourself (I think its costs something like 10-20ish dollars more on average to do it yourself than taking it somewhere). Of course now more and more dealerships are offering a lifetime of oil changes for no charge which would make changing your oil even more foolish. I just don't see how it is financially or logistically responsible to change your own oil. The only exception is if you have a absurdly expensive car, where even routine things cost high (but if this is the case, you probably are not worried about the price of the oil change being slightly higher and probably have less time to do it yourself....). Oil changes are cheap because both lube places and dealerships want you in the door to sell you more. But, if you hold your ground and strictly insist "just change my oil", its cheaper (and generally faster) than doing it yourself even if its a service not covered by the dealership. https://www.kbb.com/oil-change/ https://www.businessinsider.com/changing-own-oil-doesnt-save-money-2014-7 (And it would seem if you don't already own the equipment needed to change the oil yourself, it adds even more costs). I guess the argument can be made if you truly enjoy it, it can be worth it to you personally. I just don't see how anyone can enjoy doing anything with oil, its just messy and no fun. Its probably the least pleasant car (or tractor or mower etc....) related thing I can think of doing myself. And, its certainly not something that should be an expected thing for a man to want to do..... |
