Rush Limbaugh is exploring a defamation lawsuit against the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee.

The question up for discussion is legally, does he have a case? Larry Flynt was taken to court but I doubt that will apply. Using humor for humor sake is not the same as using a person's name to raise money while at the same time using that person's quote in a way that is totally out of context on what the person said.

As to damages, if he indeed does have a case then Mr. Limbaugh clearly has a case for damages as he does a show that relies on image to attract advertising. Proving a quantifiable amount may be hard, but probably an estimate can be made. Punitive damages, as always, could be any amount.

He has a case or he wouldn't have filed. He
has them cold.

Not sure what he is claiming defamed him, but in this recording (link at the site) he is clearly mocking Ohio States consent requirements, not endorsing it. Anything he said about taking consent seriously in that context, I'd have my doubts about.

Might go with "right to publicity" claim

He's suing because they only used the very
first part of the sound bite and cut off his
explanation. It makes it sound like girls
really mean yes when they say no, which
is not what he meant at all if you listen
to it in context. And he's right, girls at
one time said no all the time when they
really wanted you to continue. It was
unladylike to act like they wanted sex,
so they made you work for it.

I was there, I went thru it, so did Rush.
I had a girl in Santa Barbara that said
no constantly and when I finally gave
up she actually said 'no never means
no, you know' and she gave it up.
Women used to like being chased,
I have no idea what they like now.

Women like being purchased these days (and I don't mean hookers)
They like to have everything paid for then complain they only make "78 cents for every dollar a man makes at the same job"

I held the door open at the mall for a woman in her late 20's the other day—when she got to the door, instead of saying thank you she said "I can open a door myself"

WOW - excuse me…I guess all the chivalry my grandmother instilled in me is no longer needed

Find out if she is married or has a boyfriend, if so we owe the guy a beer for taking her off the market. Good grief.

Same happened to me around 15 years ago, kicked the manners I was brought up with to the curb. My response was a simple, "Ooo-Kaaaay, $%#@..."

Of course Rush doesn't have a case. He's just garnering more publicity.

Quote: Rush, same day
“How many of you guys, in your own experience with women, have learned that ‘no’ means ‘yes’ if you know how to spot it? I’m probably — let me tell you something, in this modern world, that is simply, that’s not tolerated. People aren’t even going to try to understand that one. I mean, it used to be said as a cliche. Used to be part of the advice young boys were given.”

That sounds like "guys, use your best judgement."

But the DCCC was dumb to bite at that bait. Nothing will happen.
