I love this network, and I love this show. It wouldn't
bother me if FN was the only network on TV. Food
Network Star is a once a year contest that picks
the next person to have his own show on FN.

It's always fun, and interesting, and even dramatic
sometimes. We all eat everyday, and food is a
big part of it. One of the former winners, Guy
Fieri, went on to become one the biggest stars
on FN. His show Diners Drive-In's and Dives
has been of for years, I've seen all of them.

The newest season of Star was on tonight and
there's are some promising faces in the crowd.
I'm pulling for the guy from Italy..

FN is one of the networks I miss since cutting the cord and I also looked forward to TNFNS each summer. Melissa was my all time favorite as she seemed to really develop. I thought they should have paired her with that guy who was the other finalist and worked them together like James Garner and Mariette Hartley in those old Polaroid commercials. The one I could not stand was that Arti girl who was setting up the Indian cooking show. She was awful but you could see from the start that the fix was in for her to win as every week when they had a strong competitor get a weak showing they were booted so by the end she was facing the worst opponents.

Did anyone else notice competitor Vic Vegas was the expert on "Bar Rescue" a few weeks back?

I like the men much better than the women
on these cooking shows. They're better cooks,
that's why the best chefs are men.

Have you ever been in a good restaurant where
a woman is the head chef? Is there any upscale
restaurant in Vegas that doesn't have a man as
the chef? As a rule, men have always been better
cooks. I looked up famous female chefs, and the
three I recognized were all TV chefs, and I don't
like any of them. To run a restaurant you have to
be a hard ass, and women aren't good at that.

If you like the food shows, there's a new one on Spike called Hungry Investors, starring Jon Taffer, John Besh, Tiffany (from Top Chef), who try to invest in competing nasty restaurants in a different town every week. It's on Sundays at 9pm, and has had 2 episodes so far. So value! (as FleaStiff would say)

Yes, Jon Taffer gets uppity. He yells. I think he's trying to one-up Gordon Ramsay. Worth a watch if you're into that sort of thing.

The places are not really "nasty." So far they seem to be half-solid places with owners who just can't get to the next level. I like Taffer so I have watched so far but "Bar Rescue" it is not. They don't teach as much restaurant science and lots of content feels like filler so far. I will give it a few more episodes to find its place before I decide not to watch.
