Now he has a $160m budget to rebrand Godzilla. What do you think? Are you going to see it in the next few weeks?

I like the old Godzilla movies as B movies. I would like to see a modern version that was actually pretty good, because I haven't seen one yet.

Seems wrong to make a big budget version. The beauty is that Godzilla was always a bad, Japanese movie franchise that was good because it was bad.

The previous remake of Godzilla (16 years ago) with Matthew Broderick was considered critical failure and financially uninspiring.

I think they are going to remove any attempts at humor with this remake.

I don't mind seeing a few bits. (Jurrasic Park, though not a favorite. T-Rex in mirror (objects are closer than they appear) when he was chasing them. The annoying lawyer (Jeff Goldblum) was flattened while sitting in an outhouse ---(I may have gotten the details wrong)

Actually that wasn't Jeff Goldblum who was flattened.


Godzilla: King of the Monsters, was an American version of the 1954 Japanese original released in 1956. This cut of the film removed a sizable amount of footage and added new footage of Canadian actor Raymond Burr, in addition to dubbing most of the existing scenes into English. It runs 80 minutes.

It is available on Netflix.

Frank Scoblete is trashing Godzilla on that 'other'
forum. IMDB gives it a 7.5 from over 1000 people
that have seen it. I wonder who I'll listen to. Bad
movies don't usually take in $200 mil on opening
weekend.

Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen took in huge sums, and it was almost unwatchable. I think the strength of this version of Godzilla, is that it has no ambitions to be anything other than a decent monster flick.

That's why 'don't usually' instead of never. The reviews
tell me it does what all movies of this type do. The
first hour is boring, the 2nd hour is the money. You
can't have too much of the monster in a monster
movie, he becomes a sympathetic character if you
do. He loses his evil charm.
