Can you blast us when you're actually capable of logical arguments and maturity?
LOL!

That's hilarious. You guys use the lamest of lame arguments, yet you have the audacity to accuse someone else of doing the same????? *facepalm* I've already presented my sound, logical arguments on various issues. Where are yours??

Then, after you guys are asked to present decent arguments, you respond—not by actually providing a decent argument—but by sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming, "You're blocked!"

You can THAT mature???? You guys are two peas in a pod. *facepalm #2*

It's quite certain to me, even Evenbob has you blocked. No offense meant to Evenbob, a valuable poster in my opinion.
Yeah, and I'm sure he keeps you up to speed with everything he does...lol

*Guess the rent is still free, even after insult after insult after insult after insult after insult after insult. :D

Odd that this didn't make the news...

Runaway plane again today. The Glazer's, owners of most of Rochester, apparently suffered depressurization and hypoxia. The plane was picked up by F-16's out of McEntire, SC, which were relieved by F-15's out of Homestead. The F-15's reported that the glass was frosted up and pilot was slumped over. Plane ran out of gas and crashed just outside of Jamaica a few hours ago.
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

I am confused about your meaning?

Quote:
The part specifically about believing propaganda, that term is starting to be over used. Were you referring to my entire post or the part about the tar sands or the central bank with less than 1/2% capital reserves?

Both.

On the oil sands, you stated that Canada was being destroyed by the tar sands. The area where tar sands is being used covers a total of 140,000 (and that doesn't mean 140,000 km is wasteland. Canada's area is over 10,000,000 square km, so really, the tar sands is tarnishing 1.5% of the country's total area, no big deal.

On monetary policy, I have no opinion, but there are plenty of economists and banking execs who state that capital reserve isn't necessary due to the controls in its lending policies. Canada does not have alot of banks. There are essentially 5 large banks in Canada, and 57 banks in total. Add to that about 40 credit unions, none of which has failed over the last 30 years. Those five large banks are the #6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 bank in terms of deposits in North America.

Have houses truly gone up in value? You miss the issue. The market price is just that. The qualifications for loans is what killed US housing and caused the bubble to burst. In Canada, you are required to pay 5% down for your primary home and then pay another 3.5% of the value of the home in mortgage insurance through CMHC or another agency. On top of that, you have to verify your income, and the standard 32% / 40% rule applies (you won't be approved for a mortgage if your annual payments total more than 32% of your income or 40% of your total income + debt servicing). The US was pretty much giving away loans to anyone which artificially inflated demand and caused the bubble. Canada's bubble, if anything, is predicated on low interest rates and a gradual increase of increase rates would have the effect of softening demand for housing, but the mortgage insurance rules and tight income rules prevents a US style breakdown. So, the housing "values" have gone up.

Canadian banks are subject to the Basel Capital accord (Basel III) which required Banks to hold reserves in Capital according to the risk regime of its investments. The requirement today is 7% and moving to 8%. All the the Big Canadian Banks are sitting between 8% and 10% today.

You can argue that capital requirements are more important than cash reserve requirements. The Bank of Canada mitigates this via its overnight lending rate. Banks that are low on cash reserves can borrow money from the Bank of Canada at 0% interest and pay it back later that day by selling stock. The Bank of Canada passes any equity as a dividend to the Government of Canada so any balance sheet has a zero equiry balance. The "Big banks" S&P Rates are AA- to A+ and are the five safest banks in North America, so major ratings agency would agree with my assessment.

Quote:
The way I read the retort its [maybe your] belief is a bank doesn't need any capitol in reserve? So it is ok in that book to loan out or not have at its disposal ANY funds. None in the safe more than todays cash requirements do to customers check writing needs [sweeps]. I think that is almost a description of bankrupcy.

Yes. Precisely. Capital reserves are more important than cash reserves with the Federal Government backing it up.

@ Boymimbo, sounds good to me.

Did I say I love Canada, the place in beautiful.

The US has probably radiated more acres than Canada spilt tar on.

We also have nearly twice as many people on food stamps as Canada has people.

Can you top that? Is there some room for some escaping survivalist types if our dear leaders quit handing out free food and phones? Canada what a great big resource rich english speaking country that we can all drive to. It would be even better

I may not have conveyed my meaning well or translated it into your language well enough,[lol] but I spent a lot of time in logging country. I wholly beleive in cutting trees. There is definatelly ways to harvest trees from now on. To bad the northern trees grow slower but somebody hopefully has the replant program figured out. I enjoy driving buy some monster cold decks and people actually working and producing something.

Down here we like to produce financial products and export inflation, seems to be working for the few. It sure pissed off the people trying to make it on less than 3 dollars a day though.

I'm somewhere between "peak oil" and abiotic theory. Saw the mess the Exxon Valdez leftover. Drove out to Bligh reef. Ugly business.

Propaganda? We are just one giant grey handing out "ameros" in Roswell away.......from every conspiracy theory known to man having been proven correct.

Thanks
