I love the buffets
Hit Caesars once and South Point 3 times
Love the variety
Only time I eat a desert after a meal

You have eaten more buffets in Vegas this week than I have in the last fifteen years living here.

What a waste!

I used to love eating at the free buffets, pre-Covid. Some menial gambling at the Boyd properties was always enough for a free meal. Loved the MSS buffet.

I suspect Trump is counting on this matter to be appealed to the USSC, hoping that the conservatives will protect him.

Maybe they will: just have to wait and see.

What would the Constitutional interpretation be that would lead to refusing to have released the records of a POTUS who is no longer in office? In my opinion, the only reasonable argument against any release of Presidential records would be if there is any information in there that could compromise the country to a foreign power, but even then, you could release records with certain omissions and redactions being made with an eye towards national security.

The problem is that they are all in casinos. I rarely go to casinos anymore. Almost any day I would choose a gas station hot dog over a buffet. Gas stations are convenient, casinos are not.

"Trump is trying to claim that he has final authority over whether those documents can be released. But a statute Congress passed in 2014 specifically gives the final say over executive privilege (at least in the executive branch) to the incumbent president."

I would certainly think so. I can't see under what rationalization a previous President could possibly have assumed authority over what a future President may or may not reveal to the public. I was just wondering if there was a Constitutional basis (national security aside) for anything about a prior President's records on anything not being able to be made public.

My question was premised on the notion that SCOTUS could prevent such from being released, but I can't see on what possible Constitutional grounds they might do that.

I am not a constitutional scholar, but it seems to me he'd have to attack the constitutionality of the 2014 statute.

For the Supremes to support his claim they'd need to conclude that executive privilege continues to follow a former president.

While that seems legally unsupportable they might just rule that way (for political reasons).

My concern about that isn't even this particular instance, but that it could set a dangerous precedent for the future. It would essentially give a POTUS carte blanche to directly lie to the American public knowing that evidence of such couldn't be released.

Yes indeed, as Trump is certainly well aware.

I guess when you feel people owe it to you to treat you like a god you also feel that the rules of we mere humans cannot and should not apply to you.

Sick.

Nixon said something like that in his interview with David Frost. Paraphrase, “it’s legal because you’re President.” or some such.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?
