They were trapped on an island, these people are trapped in a town they can't leave. It's a puzzle why they're there, and we're shown constant flashbacks as to who they really are. And it's on the same network, ABC. Puh-leeze.. Ginnifer Goodwin and Robert Carlyle save the show. Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin is remarkable, over the top acting. But can it save this Lost reincarnation. Doubtful. It's getting tedious already. Series like this are a form of masturbation. You keep watching and watching, hoping for release, and none ever comes. Sorry for the obvious metaphors. The writers look for ways to string you along, and string you along, there is no point, there is no purpose. I learned my lesson with Lost. Do I really need to learn it again? If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

It was basically designed as a show to appeal to women. It had a good premise, but it is going to get more tedious as you watch more episodes. |

Not gonna happen, I forgot how boring and predictable episodic network TV is. By ep 6 the CGI was cut back to nothing. The stories are silly, it's a high budget soap opera. The evil queen is the snarky mayor who has her busy-body nose stuck in everybody in the towns business. Emma is a tough-acting guy-woman who never smiles and has a chip on her shoulder a mile high. The constant flashbacks to fairytale land are becoming trite and cheezy. The know it all young kid is getting really boring, he has the answer to every question and pops up unexpectedly everywhere, just like the evil queen mayor. I can't imagine 60 more episodes of this, no wonder the ratings tanked. Like a soap, its all about relationships. With the mayor continue to get laid by the sheriff. Will Snow White succeed in stealing Charming from his wife. Will the girl who had the baby be accepted into her boyfriends family. Will Emma ever hook up with Ruby the waitress, it's only makes sense. They managed a good first 3 episodes and then it went downhill fast. Cutting out the expensive CGI was a big mistake, the quality of the show is gone. Fairytaleland looks like a bunch of bad actors in Halloween costumes without it. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

The Returned (Les Revenants) 2012 TV-MA On returning home and finding they're believed to be dead, a collection of near-strangers from the same village try to find a reason for their plight. (8 episodes) |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | It got picked up for season 2, comes out the end of this year. Long wait between seasons. I might try it, tho am not a fan of subtitles. I usually stay away from zombie things, I don't understand the premise. I've only seen one zombie movie, it starred Woody Harrelson and was awful. I don't get what motivates zombies. Vampires I get. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | I read a bunch of negative reviews for OUAT and this one sums it up nicely: "This series is so jaw-droppingly bad, my mind was boggled by the dribbling accolades of other viewers. Then I saw a review that said something like, "If you were a fan of "Lost" just stay tuned! You'll LOVE it!!!!" (I may have left out a ! or two.) Of course, that reviewer was absolutely right. I've watched maybe a half dozen episodes, and the writers have changed the paradigm at least four times. That is, they used the now-famous "Lost" principle of fantasy writing: if you introduce enough confusing minor side plots, oddly compelling but ultimately pointless minor characters, ersatz "mysteries" and alarming character about-faces that have the main actors alternately weeping for their lost innocence and true loves and then ripping out and eating the raw hearts of infants - well then by gum, this is the show for you! But- and I do absolutely and personally guarantee this- you will NEVER see anything like a real plot resolution, because the writers and producers plan to throw so many complications into the mix that they think, and past experience has shown, that the fans are too dim to remember more than a few of the most glamorous or grisly, so however they end it, no one will care, and few will notice that in any way that matters, the whole thing just stunk on ice." That's what happened with Lost. The show got more and more convoluted and confusing and we continued to watch anyway. But some of us learned from that and are not so easily sucked in a second time. I felt X Files was somewhat like that, lots of side trips and never any plot resolution. Ask a lot of questions and never provide any answers. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

It started as ABC's 2nd place drama, dropped to 4th in it's second year, and is headed for 6th place this year. The ratings are not so horrible that they will cancel the show. But after next year when they hit 88 episodes they may end it if it continues to slide. |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25011 | I watched one more last night and it drove me nuts. A wolf leads Emma and the sheriff to a tomb, and as soon as they break in I say 'where is the mayor'? And blamo! there she is just coincidentally bringing flowers to her family crypt. The sheriff dies and Emma is just about to pin on the badge and whamo! the mayor just happens to pop in. This happens all.the.time. It makes you want to shoot the TV. I'm really done this time. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

The kid was booted because of his unsavory comments made about the show (well unsavory for some, religious babble to others and the truth to yet another sub group). I must admit I still find the show very funny on occasion. I don't like Ashton Kutcher but John Cryer carries the show along with Clark Duke who I find very funny (he plays "Barry") Conchatta Ferrel will also remain funny even though they use much less of her these days. Sometimes I find it more funny than my other favorite, Bing Bang Theory. |
