It bored the crap out of me

Out of the five films to make half a billion dollars in domestic boxoffice, did you like any of them?

Days to get domestic boxoffice to $0.5 Billion
17 Jurassic World 6/12/15
23 Marvel's The Avengers 5/4/12
32 Avatar 12/18/09
45 The Dark Knight 7/18/08
98 Titanic 12/19/97

There are now 22 films to make over $1 billion worldwide, but only 5 films made $0.5 billion in USA and Canada. Of the 22 films, only "The Dark Knight" made more than half it's revenue domestically.

Dark Knight. Never saw Avatar past the first 15 min,
walked out on Titanic, no JW yet, Avengers was
OK because of Downey.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

walked out on Titanic,

Titanic was the last one of the big old style movie release. It's biggest day at the box office was 58 days after it's release on Valentine's Day. It broke $500 milllion after 98 days in release, and they left it in another 26 weeks so it would break $600 million. Nobody would waste that much time as the movie could be generating DVD and streaming sales.

With the exception of limited releases where the film opens in only a few theaters to get positive reviews, no movie today does better on it's second weekend than it's first.

But nobody expected Jurassic World to break $500m in 17 days.

I finally saw the fourth Transformers movie.I didn't realize that they had battle scenes in both Chicago and Hong Kong. They also mixed in some Mandarin and Cantonese dialogue.

This storyline where the middle aged American falls either in love or lust with the beautiful Chinese woman is getting a little old. It just feels like pandering. But given the amount of money involved, I suppose pandering is to be expected.

Between Ted and Transformers Mark Wahlberg should just have the money truck drive up to his mansion.

Bay, Spielberg and Paramount kowtow for cash

Bay once again is showing the way forward for the American film industry, and this time, the path he has revealed is a dark one, and not just from the point of view of film critics and cineastes. My first reaction to “Age of Extinction” was that it was an astonishingly unpatriotic film. But I was wrong. “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” is a very patriotic film. It’s just Chinese patriotism on the screen, not American.

Bay got shot or stabbed in China during the filming of Transformers, no?

He was injured, but not seriously enough to stop filming. It seems that the film company paid local merchants some money to make up for lost business, and these thugs felt that they were overlooked.
