In Macau, casinos use over 1,000,000 new decks of cards
for baccarat a month and they destroy the same number
of decks per month.

Everybody knows the first book printed by the modern
printing press was the Bible. What most don't know is
at the same time they were printing it, they were also
printing the first mass produced playing cards, and they
were selling as fast as they made them.

And the much-hated Stamp Act ... applied to the sale of playing cards in the Colonies.

Recently I was at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, FL and witnessed several "retirement parties" for decks of playing cards.

Pre-printed see through packages, signature lines as integral part of disposal package, Joker physically torn by FloorPerson for about one inch of its length. Signed by Dealer and Floor Person. And this is what they do with the OLD cards that are being retired, not the new decks of cards. I'm sure they don't get them from Phil Ivey though.

I play bac on occasion, and the pit is all
aware of the fiasco of the pre-shuffled
unshuffled decks awhile back. They get
the same pre-shuffled decks and now
run them thru a continuous shuffle
machine before they go into a game.

They all laugh about how many heads
rolled that day in that casino. They never
mention the money won. We think about
the money, they think about the jobs lost.
It's funny how we view it from two different
perspectives..

20% of Mohegan Sub's players are Asian and 99%
play baccarat. In my local casino today there was
an altercation between a middle aged Chinese
guy and a middle aged white guy.

They're both regulars but the Chinese player buys
if for thousands and the other guy for hundreds.
They yelled at each other for a few minutes and
the Chinese guy even lunged at the sitting white.

Security broke it up and I said to the white dealer
at my table that watch, they'll kick out the white
guy. Sure enough, they never even spoke to the
Chinese player, but after listening to the other
guy for 10min, armed security escorted him off
the property.

See? I said to the dealer, was there ever any doubt?
Nope, was all he would say..
