Big thumbs up from me for Creed.

The plot is that Apollo Creed knocked up another woman outside of marriage before his death in the ring with Drago in Rocky IV. The child (Adonnis) was born after that. Apollo's wife was kind enough to taken him in, despite not being his natural mother. Naturally, he was a gifted fighter but only did it recreationally in Tijuana and was entirely self-taught.

As a young man he decides to turn his back on his office job and living off Apollo's money and seeks out Rocky to train him. I think he figures Rocky owes him the favor, as Apollo would have never died had Rocky stopped the fight against Drago. Rocky wants nothing to do with boxing at first but Adonnis wears him down and he does. As they prepare for a big fight in England, Rocky learns he has cancer and his first reaction is to let nature take its course, as everybody he ever cared about in life has already died. That is about as far as I should take it, as I've already gone more than half way through the movie.

Anyway, I thought the movie was on par with Rocky II. I hesitate to call this one a Rocky movie, but it was as good or better than any Rocky movie except the original. However, it also had its own feel to it. My compliments to Michael B. Jordan for an outstanding job. I'd like to see him at least get an Oscar nomination. His work in Fright Night Lights (the TV series) and The Wire were outstanding too.

For any fan of the Rocky movies, Creed should not be missed.

Tom Cruise in 'Jack Reacher' , to use an example that I already know EB does not agree with, just flops

I loved Reacher, seen it 5 times at least.
One of Cruise's best in the last 10 years.
Also Live Die Repeat, seen that 5 times.
Cruise always gives us all he's got, it's
like he feels bad if he doesn't give us
our moneys worth.

I have read a ton of Jack Reacher books?
Jack Reacher in the books is a real big guy
Tom Cruise is a real small guy
Its kind of like casting Pee Wee Herman as Batman.

In the books James Bond is 6' 1" tall.
The current Bond is short. Doesn't
seem to matter a whit to anybody.
Daniel Craig wears lifts that make him
5' 10" for the Bond movies. If you watch
films he did years ago, he's much shorter.

Back in the day when he was younger, that would have been interesting. Who would be Robin? Minime?

He really would fit for a different kind of oddball Joker or Riddler.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter so much in the film... the size of Reacher is made a point of in the books, but in the films, he still feels like -Reacher-, and that's good enough for me.

Jack Reacher - former cop [MP] turned action hero. hmmm. Just doesn't do it for me.

Maybe if I'd read the books. I really don't read those kinds of books though.

I didn't know there were Reacher books
until today. The movie is good because
the story has lots of action and it has
a good script and Tom Cruise. It's
entertaining as hell, I'm sure I'll watch
it 5 more times.

I do that with movies I like. I've seen The
Fugitive, the Pirate movies, Constantine,
Godfather series, on and on, more times
than I can count. It's like a favorite book,
you read it many times because you know
you're going to like it.
