I really can't do that. I very rarely will see a movie just as a diversion. When I want mere diversion, there are other things I do, like gambling, or practicing VP, or about 75% of my FB feed and such. I want a movie to be special, even if only a little bit.

It's all good. If everyone were the same life would be boring!

Dark Knight Rises. OMG. What an awful Batman
movie. Just terrible. Batman is rarely seen, and
when he is, he's mostly getting the crap beat
out of him. It's a Bruce Wayne movie, yawn.

He loses Alfred, he loses his wealth, he gets
beat to a pulp and put in prison. The bad
guy is some slob in a mask and it's not till
the final 10min that we find out who the
real villain is. Very cheesy and very dumb.

It's not a Batman movie. In the reviews I
read some people where yelling at the
screen 'where's Batman' when he hadn't
been seen in an hour. I was never so glad
for a movie to be over, what an awful
piece of crap. Go and read some of the
Hated It reviews on IMDB. Some of them
are very lonnnnng and detailed.

Watched Johnny Depp's "Transcendence". The story is about the advance of technology in the near future that will allow the complete transfer of a human's brain into a computer (and of course the interweb).

If this hook sounds familiar, it is perhaps because we have explored this possibility many times before... "Avatar" in 2009, "Brainstorm" in 1983, even the late 60's "2001: A Space Odyssey".

There are non-linear twists to try to keep the story interesting, and even Morgan Freeman as the "Wise Old Mentor Always Non-white" but it eventually devolves into a wimpy attempt at "action/thriller".

I give it 10 out of 1010 punch cards

My wife and I stayed home last night and watched a movie called Spy. To me it seemed like a parody of a James Bond movie but starring a woman (Melisa McCarthy). All I can say is wow, it was horrible. I am not much of a movie watcher and this movie reinforced why I don't watch many movies. I was very surprised to hear it gets great reviews.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent.

"Veteran Director Paul Feig attempts to cross genres in this satirical espionage comedy starring the unreasonably acclaimed actress Melissa McCarthy, the result is cinematic meekrob, I would sooner scarf down a whole wet bucket of s**t than be subjected to another minute of this abhorrent film. Imagine if Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Transformers 4 had some kind of severely handicapped cinematic offspring, that subsequent mongoloid of a movie is Spy. Jude Law and Jason Statham also regrettably add to their otherwise modest resumes this heinous 120 minute experience only aptly likened to experiencing a drawn-out rectal prolapse."

Guess that's a thumbs down.

I've read some of Ebert's bad reviews. You can almost hear him complaining that he can't leave the theater soon enough.

We saw Spy yesterday. Mrs liked it, I didn't care for it that much. There were some funny parts, and there were some funny ideas, but overall it just wasn't that much fun.
