I made it to where the cop threw the guy out the 2nd story window. Turned it off in disgust. There wasn't a single sympathetic character in this movie. There was no real story. It was a flimsy excuse for Hwood to show what they think of people in mid America. Foul mouthed, dysfunctional, racist, uneducated, hateful, miserable people. It's the Hwod Lib theme again of, black people good, white people baaaaaadd. Every white person is a cursing cartoon character, an In The Heat of the Night stereotype. The few black people, the billboard guy, the new police chief, the girl who works with Mildred, are all mild mannered, educated, level headed. It's the 'crackers' that are portrayed as racist, C-word using uncouth loons. How many times was the C-word used, both by men and women. In my entire life I've maybe heard it five times in conversation. Yet in this small town, Hwood thinks it's common everyday talk. This piece of crap was nominated for awards, that's how much the Hwood elite loves to see mid America trashed. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I might be exaggerating about 5 times when I think about it. I've heard it so many time in movies and on cable TV series, I might have only heard it once or twice in real life. This movie has a lot of well known actors in kind of bit parts. They only signed on because they get to trash the 'rubes' in flyover country. Assholes. And the movie has no ending, that's how pathetic it is. They couldn't even come up with an ending to this crap. It was just a vehicle to show what pieces of human feces white people in middle America are. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Just hilarious, you really have to pay attention to catch all of it. How many times did Ryan Reynolds say, that's just lazy writing. And he was one of the major writers. Everything is a reference to something else, everything is innuendo. You have to be very talented and clever to be this good. Cost 110 million to make, took in 800 million worldwide. Let's see if three times is a charm. For the director it said, one of those guys who killed John Wicks dog. Come on, that's brilliant. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

This is a pretty by-the-numbers remake, for the first hour. Then in the third act it finally finds its own lane and gets pretty messed up. If you are planning on seeing this one and have seen the original, I’d recommend NOT watching the trailer. There are some pretty big changes in the third act and they gave too much away in the trailers.
