No Hoax

The nearly million yr old footprints found in England made me think. They say that one of the reasons the Piltdown Man Hoax stood for 40 years was because English scientists were protective of an English discovery. Not that there was any desire to hide a known hoax, mind you, just that pride caused a loss of proper skepticism. So they say.

So this must have been in everyone's mind when these footprints made the news.

The remarkable thing about the Wikipedia entry is the lack of a good photo of a footprint!
