Darren Aronofsky made his last three films for $54 million. Noah has a $130m budget.

Obviously the Wrestler secured two Oscar nominations
Actor: Mickey Rourke
Supporting Actress: Marisa Tomei

Black Swan secured five Oscar nominations and one Win
Picture: Mike Medavoy, Brian Oliver, Scott Franklin
Director: Darren Aronofsky
Actress (WIN): Natalie Portman
Editing
Cinematography

Alex Knapp, (Forbes)thinks Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah' Will Disappoint because the story has no subtlety. Of course people also said Titanic would fail because a movie where everyone knows the ending can't succeed.

We had Quo Vadis (1951), The Ten Commandments (1956), Ben-Hur (1959), King of Kings (1961). The 2004 Mel Gibson film The Passion of the Christ probably made one man more money than any other film in history.

Are we in for a revival of biblical epics?

Bible ethics, isn't Lot the one that had sex with
his daughters when he was drunk?

In verses 30 to 38, the second story describes how Lot's two daughters got their father drunk on wine, engaged in sexual intercourse with him on two successive nights, became pregnant, and eventually gave birth to two sons Moab and Benammi. Their sons are described as founding the Moabite and Ammonite nations
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Any movie today would depict the event taking place while all were sober!

And no movie producer is ever bound by the facts of anything.

Lot is 11 generations from Noah, a huge span of time. He is not likely to be in this movie.

This, to me, has always been one of the saddest and most confusing stories in the bible. Maybe I'll comment on it more later, but I think seeing it will give me nightmares; it bothered me starting as a young child. Probably will skip it.
Never doubt a small group of concerned citizens can change the world; it's the only thing ever has

When Israel left Egypt they had 603,550 armed men for war if all of those men were living at the time (Numbers 1:46). This number included all able bodied men from the age of twenty (Numbers 1:45) to the age of retirement at year fifty (Numbers 4:3;John 8:57) or sometimes sixty (Leviticus 27:7). But if all the women, children and older people over fifty (or sixty) are included, the number of Israelites who left Egypt must have numbered about two and a half million.

Of course, world population is thought to have increased from 35 to 50 million from the year 2000BC to 1000BC. So a population of 2.5 million would have been incredible at the time (especially if they were living in the desert). It has always bothered people that there is little to no physical evidence discovered either of life in Egypt or of the Exodus.

The facts are not in any way binding upon the script writers or producers. How many films ever depicted Cleopatra as 13?

Noah died 350 years after the Flood, at the age of 950, the last of the extremely long-lived antediluvian Patriarchs. The maximum human lifespan, as depicted by the Bible, diminishes rapidly thereafter, from 969 years of Methusalah to the 175 years for Abraham , and 120 years of Moses.

Biblical timelines are highly subjective, but there is at least 400 years between the Great Flood and the time of Lot. So Noah should have died a few decades before Lot was born.

Before 2500 BC The Great Flood Genesis 7
Before 2100 BC The Tower of Babel Genesis 11
2091 BC God Sends Abram to Egypt Genesis 12
2090 BC The Famine in Canaan Genesis 12:10
2085 BC Abram and Lot Part Ways Genesis 13
2084 BC Abram Rescues Lot Genesis 14
2081 BC God's Covenant with Abram Genesis 15
2067 BC The Destruction of Sodom Genesis 19
2006 BC Birth of Jacob and Esau Genesis 25
1991 BC Death of Abraham Genesis 25:5

How many movies have depicted Napoleon as short, dirty and who liked women who did not bathe?

Ain't nothin' gonna stop a movie producer from doing whatever he wants to. What was that movie about a wagon train crossing the American west which featured a jeep driving up to a ridge and driver wishing them luck?
