Nah, the Robin/Barney angle is the Ross/Rachel on/off again will/they won't they (of course they will). Ted's story is purely a device for the backdrop of the 'gang's' adventures. It drives the story, and for the first couple of seasons they made it very easy to have the story end at any point. Once they got the longer deal, they started dropping in longer term 'hints'. Season 9 I believe tells the story of Ted actually dating 'the mother', and will probably not be as interesting. Once any tension is resolved in a story like this, it's merely finalizing and wrapping. It is said that your life flashes before your eyes just before you die.... it's called Life |

I made it to about season 6 in reruns and lost interest. The writers were running out of steam and the show was existing on the characters quirks. Frasier did the same thing, but it had flawless writing and was able to survive 10 seasons and go out with dignity. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Happens a lot... the main characters become pastiches of themselves, the comedy is generated from either hyper-extending the quirks or flipping them around, and the show slowly fades away. HIMYM is doing that, but I watch it, as the comedy is amusing enough, and I haven't found anything else on netflix to fill the 20 minutes of wind down time I like watch TV for. They killed Charlie. Will that somehow figure into this ending. Maybe Demi Moore will come kill Ashton. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

That's not how women work, she'll kill his new girlfriend, his onscreen GF from 70's Show. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Even with a 45% drop in the 18-49 demographic, it is still ranked #7 among the sitcoms. Other shows are still being renewed at those ratings, but their salary expenses are out of control. Rank for 2014-15 among all scripted shows for 2014-15 season 1 The Big Bang Theory CBS 4.57 -9.70% 3 Modern Family ABC 3.36 -5.01% 17 Black-ish ABC 2.48 19 Mom CBS 2.35 12.98% 23 The Goldbergs ABC 2.23 32.74% 26 2 Broke Girls CBS 2.09 -17.81% 27 Two and a Half Men (ending) CBS 2.07 -45.30% 28 The Middle ABC 2.03 -1.46% 31 Brooklyn Nine-Nine (renewed) FOX 1.98 13.53% 33 Mike & Molly CBS 1.91 -12.31% FOX finally got a sitcom in the top 10 sitcoms. NBC will probably make a clean sweep either cancelling or ending all of it's sitcoms by the end of the year. Parks and Recreation will end this year, and it's only sitcom renewed last year (About a Boy) is now doing terrible in the ratings. |
