Sounds a lot to me like MLB pulling the All-Star game because they did not like your election security law, which the left cheered.

Thing is, the feds tie aid to things all the time. Usually highway aid until you pass a seatbelt law or DUI standards, so it is nothing new.

This one feels different. If it is ‘emergency’ aid it shouldn’t be tied to anything else. As a concept, I want ALL federal expenditures evaluated on their own. The exponential growth of federal expenditures is exacerbated by (usually Senators) attaching some ‘pork’ to a bill, as a quid pro quo. ‘I’ll vote for that aerospace bill if we add potato research funds into it’.

This though is a tough one. It’s a tough call on do the ‘ends justify the means’ concept. In this case I don’t think so. If we’ve identified a need for federal funds for this natural disaster, it should stand alone.

Apparently Trump is pausing releasing funds to a large swath of Federal programs. (Not Social Security or Medicare). And the EO is vague so no one sure exactly what or for how long. But once again, I think if he was SPECIFIC in targeting what he (or DOGE?) identified as wasteful it would make sense. Let’s say you are doing some project requiring daily monitoring of something for 7 straight days, and it’s day 4, and you don’t have (or can’t be SURE you will have) the money for day 5, do you have to stop? Restart once this is cleared up?

The right way is to pick EXACTLY what you think is wasteful, and if LEGAL, hold its funding. And then brag about how Trump/DOGE is saving us money.

The EO is vague because it is better that way. The federal government is so huge that to go program for program would take forever. If the department does not now what funding it has, it's manager can figure out how to juggle funding to make it happen if they are smart and it is critical. If they just throw their hands up in the air then the thing was not critical or/and they are not fit for their post.

General Patton said something to the effect of you do not tell people what to do, you tell them what needs done then let them use their creativity to solve it. For too long government has been bureaucrats saying they simply cannot cut anything. Trump and Musk seem to be saying, "Your budget is cut, figure it out!"

And that is just one more reason the deep state hates him.

The tangled mess in your head needs to fix small areas. Better to take it all out. That's Duffman theory.

The Federal government is a complex entity. Much like operating system on computers. You can tweak it carefully, or you can hit it with a sledge hammer.

Gotta agree. I thought the whole purpose of DOGE was to accomplish these goals in an orderly fashion. This EO will cause chaos UNNECESSARILY and thus COSTLY INEFFICIENCY. The opposite of what DOGE is meant to do. I’d rather trust Musk and company to SPECIFICALLY outline things that need elimination/cutting/restructuring, and focus on them.
The ‘penny elimination’ was a great first start.
