Nobody works for minimum wage now, why bother lowering it?

Lowering the minimum wage sends a message that wages in general need to come down to stay competitive with the rest of the world.

One of the follies of tariffs is thinking that they'll last forever: nope.

Trump's end game seems to be rebuilding America's industrial might again: great, let's do it, but when and if we ever do become a manufacturing power we'll want to sell our goods around the world as we once did, otherwise there won't be enough profits.

To sell that stuff world-wide we'll need to remove tariffs, and once they're gone the playing field will again favor those countries with cheap labor and lax environmental laws.

Even in American Samoa the natives know how to think things through; you MAGgots should try it some time instead of running off half-cocked chasing chimeras down rabbit holes.

American industry will not return and be competitive if the USA is in a pure, free trade situation as other countries pay workers less wages and have less stringent environmental standards: they can produce goods for much less than we can here in the USA.

Not true at all. American industry could return and be competitive if we agree to live by the standards that other countries do. Obviously we don;t want that because we have been spoiled all of our lives, but it can be done.

You don’t get it. The tariffs are to get market access in other countries. They reduce theirs we reduce ours.

Great, then we're back to where we were before tariffs went into effect: what has changed?

In order to level the playing field and become globally competive we need to be able to produce products at a cost no higher than other countries can, and with our higher wages and strict environmental regs I just cannot see that happening.

What, do you seriously think Americans want to have filthy, polluted skies again, belching steel mills, chemical factories etc.?

Trump is promising something he cannot deliver, which is par for the course...and you MAGgots voted him in office!

Reap the whirlwind, people.

Futures down hard on Trump's Liberation Day:

Interestingly, Liberal and Liberation have the root word in common.

He should have called it Conservation Reciprocal Day.

Because the top one-tenth percent wealth is going to be spread to the lower bottom percentages.

Huh?

Maybe YOU can't form a complete sentence based on a coherent thought?

Someone just discovered crack?

WTF are you trying to say, MAGgot?

Just take Trump's 'you know what' out of your mouth and say what it is you mean to say.

Stupid autocorrect posting from phone.

The Trump tariffs are to match their tariffs, already there. They remove theirs Trump will remove ours. And I love your racist position of let them have pollution so you can buy cheap junk.

I don't have anything in my mouth. As far as that goes, you seem to be the one who has a crush on Trump.

Why, because I keep attacking him for being the low down craven felon he really is?

That's not a "crush," it is simply an accurate observation.

BTW I am not per se anti tariff: I would be okay with matching the tariff which any other country imposes on the importation of American goods, but Trump is doing much more than that.

Tariffs are not the answer to the ongoing decline of America as a super power.

We had out moment in the sun solely because of the then unique circumstances facing the world; things have changed since then, we'll never get back what we once had, i.e. world wide industrial dominance.

It is what it is.

You sound like the girl who keeps complaining about the guy but she secretly has a crush on him. Usually this is a middle school thing but given the tone of your posts I figure that is the mental level you seem to be on when it comes to Trump.
