The real world.

Not the 4th estate world.

We do not have the defensive measures to guarantee no counterattack lands, there will be damage (way less than Russia receives, but no nuclear damage is good.)

Any country that talks about using nukes is less dangerous than a country that has a legitimate infrastructure and never talks about it. Russia and North Korea constantly blab and make threats about Nukes because they are desperate.

I personally am not against preemptive nuclear strikes, there are many scenarios where they can be a positive move. I do not think we are there, and I do not think Russia will get to that point. Now, if Russia does launch a nuclear weapon against Ukraine, then this is no longer preemptive and everything must be performed.

But what they don't say is what you should search for and don't use the 4th estate searching mechanism to feed hogwash.

It's psychological warfare.

Noone is going to spend $20B for a loaded nuke missile when they can have similar effects for $1.00.

I don't believe if Russia struck first that would guarantee them a win. I also don't believe if we struck first that we would go all out, it would be more of a few warning shots taking out military targets without targeting cities.
