I am indeed, I guess, at least taking something that is supposed to be funny and not 'getting it', taking it too seriously, not allowing license where others grant it ... but still

to me these commercials cross the line, I feel they would not have been shown years ago, partly because there would only be a small target audience. Today, though, they are targeting that evidently much larger audience of today... I'll call it the "I want to be an asshole" people who think being one is funny

Those don't bother me, but I'm sure I can think of some that do.

Do I really need to watch the videos? Cause I think I already have the answer. 😛

I should just say "oh, they all lie about something" I guess but these Splenda claims? they cross the line for me

#1, Unbelievably, they are allowed to advertise "zero calories" when in fact it has calories.

Quote: per wikipedia page
The energy content of a single-serving (1 g packet) of Splenda is 3.36 kcal ["calories" in labeling], which is 31% of a single-serving (2.8 g packet) of granulated sugar (10.8 kcal). In the United States, it is legally labelled "zero calories"; U.S. FDA regulations allow this "if the food contains less than 5 Calories per reference amount customarily consumed and per labeled serving". One packet of sugar (10.8 kcal) contains the same caloric content as 3.2 packets (3.36 kcal each) of Splenda...
It contains a chemical that is so sweet you need very little, thus making it virtually calorie free, perhaps. I would be OK with 'virtually' in labeling, but I have snowflake tendencies over, in particular, using the word "zero" which violates both proper English usage and mathematical fact!

#2 the commercials claim that it is a natural product, showing workers harvesting some leafy something in the field. The hyper-sweetening ingredient that makes the product possible, though, is far from natural. It basically is a chlorinated carbohydrate, or from "selective chlorination of sucrose" according to its Wikipedia page. This can really make a snowflake melt, I mean, DDT is a chlorinated hydrocarbon ... OK, hydrocarbon, not carbohydrate, I get it. But to have commercials swooning about how natural it is? Give me a break!

I'm melting, I'm melting!!
