I used to be a libertarian, and some of my closest friends to this day are. But, they do not have a firm basis on reality in the sense of making America the strongest nation in the world in my view. I feel like most college libertarians just want to smoke weed in public and not conform to social norms, there are some principled ones, but I do not think that this is the average. There are some libertarian candidates that I personally like, but this election is too important to restore democracy to risk voting for them. |

You used to be? You do not have a libertarian bone in your body. Making America "the strongest nation in the world" has zero place in a libertarian's world. They do not want us getting into things like Ukraine where we have minimal interest. War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength |

If there was a Nihilism party, I would be president. At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a deterrent. |

Oh yes, when young. In fact I think when I turned 18 Ron Paul (it was either him or Ralph Nader, I honestly don't recall, but probably Ron Paul at that stage in my life,) was my first Presidential vote senior year of HS, and I supported him in 2012 as well. Most of college I was very active in libertarian groups. This may shock you, I am still a registered Republican because of him (wanted to support him in primaries, and never bothered to change my party affiliation since I turned 18, also I tend to find Republican primaries more interesting, so it has its upsides) You are correct, I do not have such views anymore, I used to hold almost the polar opposite views when I was younger, then I matured. I am very much on the centralized national viewpoint now, which is the correct view. I used to be very anti-military and anti-foreign conflict, now I think we need more involvement in almost every region. Really the only thing I agree with libertarians on now is gay marriage, abortion, and marijuana legalization (and I am getting more on the fence about that recently.) |
