A new couch-less thread

I've been continuing my method of learning about Vance without research of my own, just to see what comes through. I'm getting closer to doing my own research, perhaps you can say C-span Book TV has started that process

just watched Book TV where they had Vance on talking about his book in *2017*. Very enlightening. He packs the Washington Convention Center where he is received as the Second Coming. Of course he's just recently caused a Liberal Orgasm by badmouthing trump in 2016. Pretty dull fellow here with a baby face ... basically just says hey, I made it through bad circumstances, the Marine Corp helped, the book is about how social mobility is impaired for white folks in that region, and why. Of course in retrospect you can see he is total MAGA material [and I certainly know the type] ... all that will be required is the usual Liberal abandonment once your usefulness comes to an end and he sees the light.

This is confirming material to me that the Lefties are really angry with him

Lefties are NOT angry with him.

He’s a huge drag on the ticket. A cat-obsessed weirdo. The most unpopular VP pick a generation. A huge mistake by Donny. We LOVE him!!

Not quite seeing the point here. Vance is a well known SF fixture, financed by a well known SF billionaire that set him up for reasons only known by those two.

He's been groomed at this point to carry out whatever agenda Peter Thiel and his friends have in mind. Vance is a willing opportunist, and his being second in command too an almost 80 year old, with a family history of dementia is a plus.

Trump will be Biden in a couple of more years, with Vance and Peter Thiel just waiting in the wings.

I'm surprised more people aren't investigating Peter Thiel and his agenda before throwing in with Vance. A gay man, married to another man, backing a conservative agenda? Doesn't make a lost of sense.

Do you think everyone that is gay and married needs to bow at the Democrat alter? That is just silly. People should not follow one party line in lock step because everything ANY party or candidate does is not necessarily the right thing. I can give examples from both parties, as I am sure you can.

Some people just become friends or business partners and don't worry about the lifestyle of the other person.

Everyone giving significant money to a campaign has something they hope happens for them policy-wise; they aren't doing it for nothing at all to happen.

I'm neither republican or democrat. I lived and worked in SF for over a decade and know of JD Vance and Peter Thiel. I'm just wondering what the relationship is/was that prompted Thiel and his group to take this relative unknown guy and pump tens of millions into getting him established in business and then tens of millions more into getting him established in politics.

You are right, nobody spends that kind of money without expecting a return on investment. I'd just like to know what the expected return is.

This is the thinking that they want you to have, us vs them. Keeps the same two tired old parties in power year after year. I'm far from a "lib", whatever that is. I just like to think for myself. You keep with the spoon fed news you get and keep watching both parties spend your future into the abyss.
