Purple Earth = Purple Soil = Terra Roxa

Here's what it looks like (click on the image to expand it):

I was looking at some property to buy in southern Brazil using stock profits and located this 2,300 foot peak that was purple.

It's not too far from Koppen's temperate oceanic climate (cfb).

They say the purple earth comes from old volcanic lava.

Also, a magnet attracts the soil.

Was Life on the Early Earth Purple?

Intriguingly, since retinal pigments absorb green and yellow light, and reflect or transmit red and blue light, then retinal-based life would appear purple in color. DasSarma and Schwietermandescribe such a stage in Earth’s history as a ‘Purple Earth’. Because retinal is a simpler molecule than chlorophyll, then it could be more commonly found in life in the Universe, and therefore a ‘green edge’ in a planet’s spectrum could potentially be a biosignature for retinal-based life.

A view of an alcoholic beverage called Cachaca down here.

It's like rum but made from sugar cane instead of molasses in the USA and Caribbean islands.

Note the Terra Roxa label.

I don't like it but showing the label.

It implies the sugar cane to make the beverage was grown in purple soil.

You can buy the rum for Cachaca up here; my wife liked it as a summer cocktail for a while, but seldom requests it now

Caipirinha seems to be the most popular use.

Add fresh lime and sugar to Cachaca.

Lime trees are all around here.
