I'm pretty sure I only started hearing G.O.A.T used liked that possibly less than a decade.

RADAR, LASER, AND SUBA were all known more by their acronyms than they are now. Bing.

I agree, 10 years sounds about right. I have no idea what SUBA is.

Diageo, which owns Guinness wants to dump some brands, including Smithwicks,

Smithwicks is the only 'red' ale I ever cared for. The first time I saw it to try, it was in Philadelphia and the waitress scolded me for not knowing how to pronounce it. She was sort of rude about how everybody knows it's pronounced 'Smitties' , according to her.

>>>

How do the Irish pronounce Smithwick's?

Smithwick's is the largest beer producer in Ireland. The "w" is not pronounced. In Ireland, it is generally pronounced in the following ways (due in large part to the different Irish accents and dialects): "Smithicks" - "Smitticks" - "Schmiddicks" - "Smeth-icks".
__

Diageo owns what brands?

Diageo brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, JεB, Buchanan's, Windsor whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness. [Smithwicks not mentioned in that googling]
__

Diageo news?

Reports claim Diageo looking to sell beer portfolio — but not Guinness
A new report has claimed that Diageo is seeking to sell its beer portfolio, although the news also states it will keep its Guinness brand.

What makes ham taste like ham?

The Different Types of Ham and How to Prepare Them
When ham goes through the wet curing process they are brined, then fully cooked either in an oven or a smoker. The brining process involves completely immersing the meat in a brine for several days, allowing the ham to soak up the brine's flavors and ingredients, such as sugar, spices and seasonings.
__

corned beef or ham made same way?

Essentially yes. Ham is specifically the leg of pork cured with a brine( water, salt nitrates, nitrites, sodium ascorbate) or dry cured without water. Corned beef can be any one of a number of primary muscles cured in a similar manner.

I can see why many of these were hard to accept, so the continental drift theory rejection is the most remarkable. It was rejected by geologists until the 1960s, and I really believe religious belief played a role. Was geology more attractive to study than other sciences to someone with strong religious belief? Finally the evidence came in due to periodic switches in Earth's magnetic poles. The Atlantic ocean ridge area where drift goes in opposite directions left a record of the switches that matched perfectly on both sides of the ridge.

The Bible has nothing to say about continental drift of course, so you have to be the kind of person who looks at the world and says "God made it that way and he wouldn't allow changes" I guess. Plus, it could have gone along with the resistance to the teaching of Evolution in the mind of such a person...
I overlooked one thing, and it had to be a big factor. To concede that the continents drift is to concede that the Earth is many millions of years old ... a Bible-is-literal-truth type cannot do that

for some reason only recently realized there was such a thing as a suicide smock. Naturally there are a bunch of nicknames

>>>

An anti-suicide smock, Ferguson, turtle suit, pickle suit, Bam Bam suit, or suicide gown, is a tear-resistant single-piece outer garment that is generally used to prevent a hospitalized, incarcerated, or otherwise detained individual from forming a noose with the garment to commit suicide. The smock is typically a simple, sturdily quilted, collarless, sleeveless gown with adjustable openings at the shoulders and down the front that are closed with nylon hook-and-loop or similar fasteners. The thickness of the garment makes it impossible to roll or fold the garment so it can't be used as a noose

And it is fashionable.

How is chlorine added to city water?

Chlorine can be added to water as a gas or in the form of hypochlorite either as liquid or solid. Gas chlorination requires more sophisticated equipment and more training to apply safely. Adding chlorine as a hypochlorite is much simpler, requires less training and is safer.

__

Is hypochlorite the same as bleach?

Sodium hypochlorite, commonly known as bleach, is most frequently used as a disinfecting agent. It is a broad-spectrum disinfectant that is effective for the disinfection of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and mycobacterium. However, sodium hypochlorite is NOT effective in the disinfection of bacterial spores and prions

I watch people around me buying bottled water. Most of the people I know. I'd say 99% of the water I drink is from the tap. I used to hear people selling bottled water on the strip were putting tap water in the bottles they sold. Never bought one anyway. How would you get the lids to seal to fool people?
