I have a slight beef with the concept of 'throwing one's vote away on a no-hoper' where that vote could have helped thwart the greater of two evils.
I'll admit that I have occasionally, deliberately spoiled my ballot as a protest vote, so I see where you are coming from.

I have little faith or kinship with and to the American two party system.

If you want to actually get it done, in US politics there actually only are two ways. Voting libertarian or third party isn't the flex you think it is. It is being silent, and silence is the voice of complicity.

Other democracies often have more than two viable, national parties.

Oh sure, ours was designed to be a two party system but I think by now the fallacy in that form of thinking has become obvious.

Other democracies the parties in coalition governments start bickering and squabbling with each other and everyone decides to take their ball and go home, forcing new elections in 18 months and government paralysis.
