Uh, no...I was a teen.

Yeah, 'Nam was not a popular war and yeah, many folks refused to fight.

You call them "smart" but I call them "draft dodging pieces of crap."

Choose your own adjective.

My thought is pretty simple, fight or renounce your citizenship and leave. I am fine with those that choose to leave because I wouldn't want to be fighting for them.

You were teen in 1973? Lolol! Sure you were old man. You say you practiced law for 40 years yet you were a teen in the mid 70s. You really have to get your stories straight. And you've been retired for a while years and years.

There was no draft when you were 18. You don't know what you would have done, you just think you know. The draft ended in 1972. That means that the draft didn't even apply to men in this country who now are in their late 60s. Men born after 1954 have no idea what it's like to have a military draft hanging over your head every freaking day after you turn 18. It rules your existence.

Agree fully. Born in 1960. So no draft for me. I thanked my lucky stars that I was never subject to the draft. I thank those that have filled the need by volunteering ever since. In my new house here in The Villages. While walking dog meet a very old man. Super polite and nice. Wearing a Korean War Veteran cap. I as always, thank him for his service. He giggles, and says he can barely remember ‘my service’.

No way for me to be sure, but if I remember correctly I’d have been exempt due to college/medical school? It’s also possible it’s because I have flat feet?

Wrong again, I know exactly what I would have done. I would have stayed home because they wouldn't take me because I only have one kidney. Out of college I tried to enlist in the Navy as a path to the NSA but they couldn't take me because of only having one kidney. They recruited me to be an Ensign Cryptographic Officer and eventually learned they wasted their time because I couldn't pass the medicals.

No and yes.

Yes, lots of people were 4-F.

No, Trump was NOT one of them.

You really aren't paying attention, were you?

Trump was 1-Y, not 4-F.

Please try harder to keep up with the rest of the class.

Both you and AZDuffman are correct. At various times President Trump was classified either 2-S, 1-A, 1-Y or 4-F.

So you really really have no idea what it's like if there was a draft. You're just an observer on the sidelines. Well I do know what it's like because I was subject to the draft before the lottery and saw friend after friend get taken away against his will. Some came back some didn't. Not good times to live in.

You can be sure by looking it up: https://www.sss.gov/about/return-to-draft/#s4 . The Health Care Personnel Delivery System. Believe it or not, you practiced medicine until age 45 eligible to be drafted if the Prez and Congress authorized it.
