Has social media made the humblebrag the primary means of communication?

what is old is new again. When I was coming up, people would say "we are just poor people" . Some of my relatives even. If you wanted to look down on them, that was your problem. It was in fact partly bragging, though I don't like that word in this usage. More like pride about being good people even if having no money.
