The hypothesis is that "Republican" states produce more carbon dioxide.

Here's a list of states ranked by percent of carbon dioxide produced by electrical generation relative to the nation as a whole. For instance, West Virginia, one of the heaviest coal using states produced 150% more carbon dioxide than the nation as a whole, and also voted 68.62% Republican in the 2020 election.

California produces 50% less carbon dioxide in electricity production than the nation as a whole, and only 34.32% of voters chose Republican in 2020.

The trend holds pretty true, although I've marked several states that are extreme exceptions to the hypothesis. Exceptions to the rule can be because of coal, nuclear, wind hydroelectric or some combination.

First column is carbon dioxide production relative to national average - Second column is voted Republican in 2020 relative to 50%

Coal and petroleum produces the most carbon dioxide, but really only Hawaii is a heavy user of petroleum to generate electricity. Nuclear and hydrodynamic produce no carbon dioxide at all. Natural gas has become the most heavily used source especially for plants built in the last 20 years.

Oklahoma is a heavy user of wind energy and is very Republican.

North Carolina is in the middle as it produces average carbon dioxide and is a battle ground state with almost even 50/50 votes.

Just in case you didn't see my post in the news section

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Pretty interesting. Could work well with mini nuclear plant to build up a storage battery for use in heat waves.

I switched the sort order, but it is the same data as in OP.
First column is now voted for Republican in 2020 election (amount over or under 50%), second column is carbon dioxide production in electricity relative to national average,
