Go even further back when people were debating segregation, and the constant harassment African American families who were assigned to white schools experienced (in some cases so bad that the literal Army had to be brought to towns to provide escorts -especially when local governors refused to help or in some cases used State police to actively attempt to stop it-).

Or more recently when an insurrection was attempted, and the then President even attempted to assist with the hanging of the Vice President when he would refuse to not certify the election.

Yes, lots of racist Democrats, that is why I said conservative not Republican. Because those Democrats would be conservative by modern standards (especially on social issues). The difference is, I am not blindly defending Democrat who are racist (even if many of them were many decades ago....). Whereas the right has no ability to critically analyze themselves or call out bad behavior.
