It is up to YOU to make yourself marketable. We have a community college system for this sort of thing already.

If you will not invest in yourself, why should the public do so?

Because it is apparent you guys are never going to win the anti-welfare war the way you are doing it now.
You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

I complain constantly about the people who keep giving the street corner panhandlers money. Because all it does is keep them out on the street.

I don't object to funding programs which try to help those same people get out of that lifestyle and have added incentives to keep out of it. There is obviously a failure rate, but the other way is a total failure rate. I consider it an investment.

Not sure where you get that. Even Clinton realized he had to sign welfare reform.

What, you think if we stop giving
them money they'll get a job? No,
what they'll do is start breaking
into cars and snatching purses
from women on the street.
Panhandlers are not upwardly
mobile, they are always headed
in the other direction. They don't
panhandle so they can pay the
cable bill, they do it to buy drugs.
Stop giving them money and they'll
get it somewhere else.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I'm really tired of running into shortages of this and that, and it contributes to the high prices too

I keep wondering if creeping Socialism isn't causing some of this. Planned economy effects these days come from the government pressure to make things their way, and is tied to environmentalist demands. The cost of dishwashers has to come partly from all the research they are doing under pressure to lower energy and water usage, I'm thinking. And I'm still seeing shortages in the grocery store

This is what we are supposed to believe, instead,

People also ask
Why are shortages still happening?

It's because of labor shortages and supply-chain issues, from food manufacturers to grocery stores. There simply aren't enough people to “make the goods, move the goods and sell the goods,” says Jim Dudlicek, a representative for the National Grocers Association.Jan 12, 2023

odiousgambit, economically speaking, capitalism is a system to conserve resources.

When supply of a resource is low and demand high, prices automatically rise to make it more difficult to consume, and vice-versa.

Anytime a government interferes artificially (socialism, communism, demographics, etc) with supply and/or demand, then the resource availability in question can become less than ideal.

Get used to the way Socialists talk, like in the above article

-start using other beans in your hummus recipe.

-time to ditch the pasta—and pastina—and move to rice

-time to switch to vegetarian dinners (sans the eggs)

-time to use both sides of the toilet paper [OK I just made this last one up]

Besides eggs (which has nothing to do with socialism), what shortages are you still seeing?

Even at the height of Donny’s failed Covid response in 2020, I feel like people were over-hyping the shortages. I never had any issues with empty shelves besides cleaning supplies and toilet paper.

you kill me when you say you see no shortages. You actually do any of the shopping?

Admittedly, some of it is just having to buy a brand or size you dont want to at the store. A socialist will definitely say that's just whining. And it is just whining when it has to do with Ukraine or something like that. I'm just saying I'm getting suspicious.
