Interesting. How about using a dental dam?

Thanks to Michael Douglas, It’s a Great Day for Dental Dams

One commenter blogged: It’s possible people are weighing the risks, and just happen to rank ‘choking to death on a loose sheet of latex’ a worse outcome than ‘an occasional cold sore.

Lol, no. A beard doesn't make a person. Aces looks about like I expected.

[off-topic] Hehehe. A co-worker and I were talking about my card-counting hobby and I was mentioning how I need some kind of an act, or look, or SOMETHING as I really have no cover at all. He remarked that I look exactly like a card counter would look. And damn it, he's right!

But real talk, my original comment wasn't totally silly. Despite my nature-based lifestyle or whatever, I'm not a hippie that didn't vaccinate his kid because something something drug lobby.

It was an honest question. HPV, as far a cervical cancer goes, seems to be something you really should prepare for, hence the vaccine. But this whole throat deal... it happened, OK, whatever. But is it something worth giving much attention to, as the cervical deal is? Or is it one of those things that'll wind up being sort of pointless, like most tonsillectomies?

I've been listening to Dr. Drew on Loveline and various podcasts for nigh on 13 years, and he has been preaching about the link between HPV (which is also a cause of genital warts) and cervical/throat cancer for at least that long. Despite his status as a "celebrity doctor" I trust him and think he has the public's best interest in mind. It could be a serious problem in the future.

The vaccine is a good thing if you have young kids. I think they have approved it for boys as well, although I'm not sure on that. Other than that, practice safe sex and teach your kids to do the same.

Gay people just can't get a break.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

The original discussion was about the hazards of man on woman oral sex. Issues on hazards of gay sex have been aired openly for so long, that you would have to be a termite to not know them.

If this stuff can be transmitted from junk to throat, couldn't it then be transmitted throat to throat by simply kissing?
Be bold and risk defeat, or be cautious and encourage it.

Article on that question
Short summary of article: there is no evidence that kissing can transmit HPV, but there have only been limited studies.

The vaccine is a good thing if you are a drug manufacturer.

Safe sex is a matter of partner selection ... other than that, its like lightening. Ain't nothing you can do about it.

The greatest sex related threat is a date-rape drug... not a disease.

Partner selection has little to do with HPV transmission (or even HSV).

Nonsense. If you select a partner who does not have HPV you cut transmission way down!
