Including the special elections in Arizona and Georgia, Republicans will be defending 23 seats in 2020, while the Democratic Party will be defending 12 seats. Democrats will need to pick up three or four seats to gain a majority in the Senate, depending on which party wins control of the vice presidency.

Three most vulnerable Republican seats with the incumbent last election results
Arizona (special) Martha McSally Appointed
Colorado Cory Gardner 48.2%
North Carolina Thom Tillis 48.8%

Most vulnerable Democratic seat
Alabama Doug Jones 50.0% (2017 special)

Republicans Retiring
Wyo. Four-term incumbent Republican Mike Enzi announced in May 2019 that he will retire.
Tenn. Three-term incumbent Republican Lamar Alexander announced in December 2018 that he would not seek re-election.
Kan. Four-term incumbent Republican Pat Roberts is retiring.

Democrats Retiring
Two-term incumbent Democrat Tom Udall is retiring in 2020, making him the only Democratic incumbent U.S. senator in the United States to announce his retirement in that election year.

As many have pointed out, the $500 million that Bloomberg spent on his vanity POTUS campaign could have made a difference in the Senate campaigns.
