Both he and his wife are Harvard grads and both are lawyers.

Trump in contrast...hello, bone spurs...

So you think it's because they went to Harvard and not because he was the first half black president they got a hundred different things named after him. Whatever floats your boat.

No, it happened as a means of honoring him for doing what no black man has done before.

Lots of rich white men became president: Obama is unique.

I think we can "honor" Trump by naming a sewage treatment plant or a slaughterhouse after him.

Of course, we all know what Herr Dictator really wants: his mug on Mt. Rushmore and the ten dollar bill.

.

And still hasn't been done. Obama isn't black, his mother was white. At best he's biracial. What they used to call mulatto in the United states census up until the middle of the 20th century.

"There are many people (black) who don't accept Potus Obama
as first black President. Why? of course is because of his
white mother and his upbringing. I've heard people and
read that Obama dated mostly white women and his prom
date was white. Also he don't understand the plight of the
black man."

So a lot of black people don't even consider him black.

Of course I realize he's of mixed race, but yeah, he's "black," at least as defined in real world America.

Historically if someone has enough negro blood in them to appear black then whites consider them black and not white.

Back in The Day when Massah banged his black slave and she conceived the kid was deemed to be black, was then enslaved and not acknowledged as lawful issue.

Today, look around: most blacks aren't dark black, they've got white blood in them and we say they're black.

I thought we were not supposed to judge men by the color of their skin?

Yet it's done all the time, especially by black people. Even black comedians joke about the shades of the color of their skin and how important it is. The lighter your skin in the black community the more accepted you are. If you're a black from Africa and your skin is actually black they'll throw rocks at you, literally.

Sometimes it’s the other way. Blacks with more light skins get called half breeds. Saw a black girl near tears over it once.

Point being skin color is still a huge deal no matter how much people try and pretend it's not.

I understand the same dynamic is at work in Mexico, although I've never been there and never will go there.

Ethnically they have blacks, native Americans, and Spanish.

Those of Spanish heritage and white skin seem to have a disproportionate amount of economic and political power, and the darker you are the less important you are.
