I've seen a pic of you, is this your
brother? The likeness is amazing.

To the rest of the world there is not much distinction between Michigan and Minnesota. They are either states we don't want to acknowledge, or God forbid if we have been there, we just want to forget it.

MI is so awful that since the late
1800's we have been a major
vacation destination. It's gorgeous
here in the summer, and we have
more shoreline than any other state
except AK. We have more boats
than FL. Hemingway's family came
here every summer and MI was
the inspiration for many of his
stories. Yeah, it's a god damned
awful place..

I moved from here to Calif for 7 years
and when I got back, I couldn't believe
that what I left was 10 times better
Calif will ever be.

And he blew his brains out.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

In Idaho. He never would have
done it in MI.

The Spaniards did not consider California to be huge discovery. They viewed it as too desolate and too dry.

If you think about it, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo, claimed the San Diego bay for the Spanish Empire in 1542, but permanent colonization of California and of San Diego began in 1769. Where else do you find people discovering a place and waiting 227 years to colonize? By 1850 they had a population of 500.

Peter Minuet made his famous trade of goods worth 60 guilders for Manhattan in 1625, and by 1850 there was 515,547 people living on Manhattan.
