+1 to this. As someone who ingests all manner of questionable materials, parasite shows are always a tough watch. Erupting worms, I think, are top of the fear list. Not that I actively fear them here in NY, but it's still a "F#$% that" and change the channel type of situation lol

I watched the dubbed English version of this film. But the language doesn't really matter for the scene. I think it is one that would have bothered me at 8 years old.

You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really?

Not as scary as some dead guy
rising from the dead like a zombie
and people worshiping him. That
is truly scary on so many levels.
Am very glad it's just a myth from
days when people didn't know any
better.

Nothing scary about God showing us that death does not have the last word, life continues and love wins. It is a hope we all long for deep in our hearts and know is true. What might be scary for you is that we also know that justice prevails over evil willful ignorance and prejudice.

There is no god showing you anything.
And if there was, he certainly wouldn't
be turning his son/himself into a zombie,
that's just weird and terrifying. I doubt
if you've really thought this through,
you just accept it as fact because that's
what you were taught as a child.

As an adult, the thought of somebody
coming back from the dead to 'save'
us is a stupifyingly primitive and arcane
notion. It's right up there with sticking
pins in a doll likeness of your enemy,
or gazing into a crystal ball to see the
future. It's from a world of ignorance
and superstition that died with the
birth of science and rational thinking.

Has anyone put Pet Semetery on this list yet? That movie is crazy scary!

I'm reading the book right now, and just rewatched the movie this weekend. The movie seems a little dated now.

The remake opens in April. Looks good:

I mostly mean the Zombie stuff. It
does nothing for me. At least the
Vampire junk has a little sophistication
to it. Interview With a Vampire was
one of the scariest movies I ever saw.

I'm not big on zombie movies either, but will make an exception for Dawn of the Dead. The Walking Dead does nothing for me. Watched the first few episodes and gave up out of boredom.

My favorite genre in the science fiction/horror space are robots and aliens. I love the whole Alien franchise. Ex Machina was one of my favorite movies in of this decade.

as far as films watched as a child affecting me as an adult, I can remember being in the back seat of a car at a drive-in and having to turn away completely and hide my face.

'Tarantula' from 1955 [seen in maybe '59] definitely gave me a life-long fear of spiders, or at least intensified what I would have had

A Tyrannosaurus Rex from some movie about that time scared the poop out of me too. I would think it was 'Land that Time Forgot' or 'Lost World' but no versions of those are dated right

For me it was Forbidden Planet in 1955
at the drive-in. This monster terrified
me for 10 years in dreams. I still get
uncomfortable when I see the movie.
Robby scared the crap out of me too.

Isn't there a skinny dipping scene in Forbidden Planet? I must have seen that movie when I was about 12 and that scene is all I remember -- and that clunky robot.

I was 6 when I saw it, a far
bigger impression was made
on me. I had a friend who saw
Wiz of Oz when he was 5 and
had screaming nightmares
about the witch for years.

This is the scene you mean and
of course she wasn't really nude.
You can see the suit when she
gets out of the water.
