I read 4 to 8 weeks. Especially Woody Allen movies. Loyal fans will go to see him in the theater, but most people see his movies on the small screen. Woody Allen's "To Rome With Love" boxoffice was $8.10m in first 4 weeks $6.99m in second 4 weeks $1.60m in last 9 weeks If they run it in the theater for 4 weeks without Amazon SVOD competition, and another 4 weeks with competition then cease it may make only $13m in the boxoffice. But if Woody Allen's movie and 11 others like help Amazon sell a million people on $300 a year on first year subscriptions they should make out. I am betting that the theaters buy into it because these kind of films don't really affect their revenue stream very much compared to big films. |

Rob Lowe is starting three series in the same season. "The Grinder" on Fox, "You, Me and the Apocalypse" on NBC as a winter replacement, and a voice for an animated series based on "The Lion King" to appear on Disney Channel. He will also appear in "Monster Trucks", an upcoming 2016 American 3D live-action/computer-animated action comedy film produced by Paramount Animation. Lowe was just 22 in 1989 when he was caught in a sex tape where it emerged that one of two girls he was with was underage at 16. He insists it is the best thing that ever happened to him as it made him sober up. |

There are exceptions (The Player, and Minority Report) have very low ratings. Empire 6.7 Scandal 3.3 How to Get Away with Murder 2.6 Black-ish 2.4 Rosewood 2.4 The Player 1.2 Minority Report 1.1 Shows starring Asian actors are holding their own. Fresh Off the Boat 1.9 Quantico 1.9 |

I don't get Empire. I tried to watch it again and lased 10min, it's that bad. It's overly dramatic and over acted, like a bad soap opera. Who the heck is watching it that keeps the ratings so high. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Roughly two-thirds of those age 2 and older watching “Empire” last Wednesday night (66.9%) were African-Americans. It joins ABC’s Thursday tandem of “Scandal” (42% African-American) and newcomer “How to Get Away Murder” (41%) as broadcast dramas in which more than 4 in 10 viewers are black. Among the top 12 markets, Wednesday’s episode of “Empire” won in the 18-49 demo in every one but Boston. The top scores in those cities came from Atlanta (14.9 rating/29 share), Detroit (9.2/24), Washington, D.C. (7.8/23), Cleveland (7.5/17) and New York (7.3/20) — all well above the show’s national average of 6.0/17. So if (66.9%) were African-Americans out of 17 million, that means almost 11 million viewers were AA. That's out of 40 million AA in the country. In general minorities and public television viewers rely on OTA more than other Americans. |
