Article about time passing fast as
you get older. All of us experience
it.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/clear-organized-and-motivated/201603/why-is-time-passing-so-quickly-these-days

I was bored as a kid, a lot. So time crept by.
I always wanted to be doing anything other
than what I was doing. As I got older, an
adult, I learned how to stay not bored, As a
result, time sped up, instead of an abundance
of time because I was bored, I never have any
time now. And since the internet came along,
I'm never bored for even a minute. Time now
flies by.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

I agree, with the internet I am rarely bored. There is just so much to learn so easily now.
At my age a Life In Prison sentence is not much of a detrrent.

Remember how as a kid you counted the days until your birthday? It seemed like forever when it was a month out. Now birthdays seem to come at me every other day.

Even waiting in line at the DMV, the whole internet is in the palm of my hand. I marvel at that. The only time I'm truly board is on a long drive. (2004 pickup, no phone connect)
The mind hungers for that on which it feeds.

I counted the days till school was
out, then tried to slow summer
down. Counted the days till Xmas,
tried to make Xmas vacay last forever.
Watched the clock creep by in
school, waiting for 3 pm.

I do none of that now, it's seems like
Xmas was just a month ago, my bday
is here again already, vacay's zip by
at lightening speed.

There was a guy in the army in the book
MASH, which the TV series is made from.
To make life last longer, he was angry
and unhappy all the time at everything.
They show him a few times in the movie.
His only line is, "Goddam army". At
one point he says "Goddam army". And
his jeep won't start. "Goddam army jeep",
he says. Got a huge laugh in the theater.

A big killer for me is routines.
The older I get, the more into
routines I am. Cook at the same
time, eat, go to bed, go to sleep,
get up, all at the same time every
day. Watch the same channel when
I eat. Shop for food on the same
day every week at the same time.
This makes time fly by too.

The older you get the more you
live in the past. By the time you're
60 you have 40 adult years to
look back on, and 20 when you
weren't. I'm late 60's and 30 years
ago seems like yesterday to me.
Seinfeld's been off for 20 years, are
you kidding me?

Every day, every single day, after
I'm up for awhile, I say "Holy Crap!
I've been up 3 hours already?" or
4 hours, or whatever. I've got nothing
done yet! Days fly by and I do not
remember it being like that. Maybe
I just wasn't paying attention to it
like I am now. I know this, it's very
irritating now..

My theory about time speeding up as you get older is that your internal time clock is based on your life span. When you are 6 years old a year is 1/6 of your life. When you are 60 one year is 1/60 of your life. This has a huge affect of how you perceive time.

I've read that. Another theory is that
after 60 you have so many memories
that you spend a lot more time there
than before, and this speeds time
up because you are not in the present
as much.

One of the places where time drags no
matter what your age is waiting in line.
Time seems to slow way down because
you're forced to stay totally in the present.
The same with being in a traffic jam on
the freeway. 30 min feels like 2 hours.

I may be onto something here. Time speeds
up because our minds are often not on
what were doing when we're older. I dated
a girl in my 20's that was always horribly
late. Hours late at times. I learned she spent
almost no time in the present, she was always
lost in her thoughts and had no awareness of
passing time.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.
