I will check that one out, so far Season 2 is the one I preferred and didn't watch much beyond that.

Season 2 was not very good, in my opinion. It could be completely skipped over without losing much continuity. Here is how I would rank the seasons, from best to worst: 1, 3, 4, 5, 2.

I know I am an outlier there. I just like the subject matter. I have heard that the idea was to each season focus on a marginalized ethnic group. Season 2 was poor whites, another might have been Mexicans, etc. I guess that never happened.

Here we go. I tried to watch Wire
2 months ago and hated it. I got
thru 6 episodes and gave up. If
they showed those idiot black
kids in the apartment courtyard
one more time, I was going to
shoot the TV.

The critics loved it, the audience
didn't watch. The ratings were
abysmal for every season, and
it faced cancellation multiple times.
One telling thing for me is, it
never won a single Emmy, not one.
It was only nominated twice.

I know some people loved it, but
for me it was dark and overly
complicated and dull. After 6
eps not only did I not like any
of the characters, I hated most
of them.

That is why I liked season 2. They focused on a labor union getting wrapped up in it all and the struggle of working class whites. Variety.

Nafta really hurt a lot of workers in manufacturing, but the Longshoreman made out like thieves. I've never seen blue collar make out like those guys did.

From what I know of you, I could see how you wouldn't like it. Had I not lived in Baltimore through the 90's, I probably wouldn't have liked it so much. To like the Wire, I think you have to like dark shows that blur the lines between the good guys and bad guys. It is definitely not a show for everybody.
