I didn't know the Oscars were on tonight but just happened to see the headline note that Rita Moreno wore the same dress she wore in 1962. Quite an achievement.

Once again the Best Picture went against the odds.

Since I didn't see the other nominees,I don't have the best well rounded view, but I really thought Pan's Labyrinth (11 years ago) was a better film, and it did't win the major awards.

I just felt like the film was too politically correct. Michael Shannon who played the evil nemesis didn't even get a nomination.

The evil villain in Pan's Labyrinth years ago was just your typical 1944 sadist.

The evil villain in Shape of Water was your 1963 sexual predator, racist, sadist, abusive boss, uncaring husband, and someone who wants to destroy the new and wonderful.

A good, albeit predictable Oscars.

I was most happy for Jordan Peele winning Best Original Screenplay for Get Out.

And Frances McDormand's acceptance speech was great.

A lot of people didn't want to watch it. I was around it a few times and every thing I heard was anti white hetero male. These Oscars made me think higher of Harvey Weinstein.

I've never been a big H-wood fan. Someone else controlling the remote, that's just what it sounded like in the bits that I heard. Sounded like a bunch of millionaires patting each other on the back. Each to their own.

Very female-centric this year. Noticeable. Maybe it's time? Reminded me of a Gay-pride parade a bit. They feel comfortable enough to demand we notice them.

That's always been my impression for decades.

It was about as subtle as a Wonder Woman comic.
