(very hard question)

I looked right away since for me these are all very hard. Outside of 2 of the ladies everyone might get, I had no chance. Even missed "beloved" [you should fix the numbering btw]

The numbering was used by Forbes. It is how they resolve ties.

It might be too difficult of a quiz. Sometimes it is difficult to distinguish between people who are highly paid, and people with high net worth. MC Hammer is one of the most famous musicians for going $13 million in debt and declaring bankruptcy at the age of 36, after being paid millions.

There are a number of people that are paid in excess of $40 million for several years running, that do not have net worth over $200 million.

Oprah Winfrey $165.0 M
Michael Bay $160.0 M
Steven Spielberg $130.0 M
Jerry Bruckheimer $115.0 M
Dr. Dre $110.0 M
Tyler Perry $105.0 M
Howard Stern $95.0 m
James Patterson $94.0 M
George Lucas $90.0 M
Simon Cowell $90.0 M
Elton John $80.0 M
Glenn Beck $80.0 M
Tom Cruise $75.0 M
Dick Wolf $70.0 M
Rush Limbaugh $69.0 M
Manny Pacquiao $67.0 M
Donald Trump $63.0 M
Bon Jovi $60.0 M
Ryan Seacrest $59.0 M
Britney Spears $58.0 M
Tiger Woods $58.0 M
Paul McCartney $57.0 M
Taylor Swift $57.0 M
Toby Keith $55.0 M
Justin Bieber $55.0 M
Mark Burnett $55.0 M
Ellen DeGeneres $53.0 M
LeBron James $53.0 M
Rihanna $53.0 M
Roger Federer $52.0 M

Is it accurate to list the husband/wife numbers separately? Shouldn't they be combined in a single listing?

I think different rich lists treat couples differently. Sheila Johnson and Robert Johnson have been divorced for 10 years, but she was married to him for the first 22 years that they owned Black Entertainment Television. Prior to the divorce he was listed alone as the first African American billionaire (prior to Oprah becoming a billionaire).

Beyonce and Jay-Z have separate but related income streams. Steve and Elaine Wynn were married since high school, divorced, remarried and divorced a second time. But she was only listed separately as a billionaire after the second divorce.

Prior to Bill Gates being listed as the wealthiest man in America, the title was held by Sam Walton. The Wal-Mart family fortune is still the greatest fortune in America, almost twice the Bill and Melinda Gates fortune, but the WalMart fortune is now split among 6 people.

Bill Gates $66 Billion

Christy Walton & family $27.9 B
Jim Walton $26.8 B
Alice Walton $26.3 B
S. Robson Walton $26.1 B
Ann Walton Kroenke $4.5 B
Nancy Walton Laurie $3.9 B

I was sure Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith would be on that list as one of the couples.

I also don't know how Gail King missed being on that list, because she and Oprah have been tight for, like, 30 years. How did she not ride along on the gravy train?

I'm also surprised Denzel Washington isn't on the list.
