I had heard that Episode 7 really drained and depleted JJ Abrams.

I guess they backed the Brinks truck up to his house...

One thing is for sure: no way Episode 9 is coming out in May 2019.

They can just digitally alter Luke, Kenobi and Vader to look like Rey, Luke and Ren ;)

Yet another series of young adult novels will be made into films. This one is called "artemis Fowl". Kenneth Branagh will direct, but the cast is not set. Any Irish kids in the movie IT?

The new trailer premieres tonight during Monday Night Football at halftime.

Should help ESPN's dwindling ratings for one night...

Tickets go on sale immediately after the trailer premieres. They did the exact same thing for Episode 7 tickets, and basically every online ticket vendor crashed once they went on sale. Hopefully that won't happen tonight.

Lately I prefer not to watch the trailers. That way I avoid speculating something far better than what winds up in the movie. Also, no guarantees anything from the trailer will make it to the release, right? :)

Some dialogue has leaked, though. apparently Luke's first line will be

Rian Johnson will create a brand new (non-Skywalker focused) Star Wars movie trilogy.

I told you LucasFilm loved what he did with The Last Jedi...

It looks as though they're trying to make a kind of Star Wars Cinematic Universe :)

They prefer the terms “anthology” movies and “saga” movies.

Cinematic Universes Are Killing Cinema And Star Wars Is Next

Disney needs a new media property to replace ESPN. ESPN was grossing about $10 billion a year.

Buena Vista Pictures (Disney) (13 Movies 2016) grossed $2.87 billion domestically, and probably $4 billion overseas. But then there are a lot of tie ins. If they are going to compete with Netflix with their streaming channel next year, they are going to need a lot of content.

Star Trek franchise revealed that each episode of the series costs between $8 and $8.5 million, making the show one of the most expensive in television history.

Netflix spending $6 billion on content in 2017 according to CEO Reed Hastings. HBO spent $2 billion on content in 2016. Personally, I think most of HBO series seem to be a much higher quality than Netflix. Clearly there are more new shows on Netflix.

The Disney streaming package is going to start at a lower price than Netflix (how much lower, I don't think they know yet).

ABC new series:
The Good Doctor excellent ratings

Pretty terrible ratings
The Mayor
Kevin (Probably) Saves the World
Inhumans
Ten Days in the Valley

UPCOMING ABC new series
Alex, Inc.
The Bachelor Winter Games
The Crossing
Dancing with the Stars Junior
Deception
For the People
Splitting Up Together
Untitled Grey's Anatomy Spinoff

I prefer a smiley to indicate humor.

Disney spent a bundle for Star Wars, and they need to make the money back and then profit from it. So they'll make movies, books, TV shows and tons and tons of merchandise.

I've said of Trek that when you make a couple dozen eps per year on TV, unavoidably some of them will be very good (and some will be utterly terrible). Thus the very best Trek is on TV. Some of the movies are good, but the good TV eps are great (some of the books as well). With lots of Star Wars movies, some will unavoidably be great. Some will be so bad, you'll think Lucas himself got back to writing and directing in prequel mode.

And someday both franchises will be public domain, and someone will do a Star Wars vs Star Trek movie.
