The GOP won't repudiate Trump en-masse until they have an electoral meltdown in the 2018 midterm elections. The problem is the Democrats have no idea how to bring it about.

The Republicans have a big majority, and are actually hoping to increase it.

Front and center are those 12 districts with Democratic congressmen that Trump won by 0.7% to 30.8%.
MN-07 Peterson, Collin 30.8%
MN-08 Nolan, Rick 15.6%
PA-17 Cartwright, Matt 10.1%
MN-01 Walz, Tim 14.9%
WI-03 Kind, Ron 4.5%
IA-02 Loebsack, David 4.1%
NY-18 Maloney, Sean 1.9%
NJ-05 Gottheimer, Josh 1.1%
NH-01 Shea-Porter, Carol 1.6%
AZ-01 O'Halleran, Tom 1.1%
NV-03 Rosen, Jacky 1.0%
IL-17 Bustos, Cheri 0.7%

Of course, there are 23 Districts with Republican Congressmen that voted against Trump, so the Democrats will start looking here.
FL-27 Ros-Lehtinen, Ileana 19.7%
FL-26 Curbelo, Carlos 16.1%
CA-21 Valadao, David 15.5%
VA-10 Comstock, Barbara 10.0%
MN-03 Paulsen, Erik 9.4%
CO-06 Coffman, Mike 8.9%
CA-39 Royce, Ed 8.6%
CA-49 Issa, Darrell 7.5%
IL-06 Roskam, Peter 7.0%
CA-25 Knight, Steve 6.7%
CA-45 Walters, Mimi 5.4%
AZ-02 McSally, Martha 4.9%
NY-24 Katko, John 3.6%
TX-23 Hurd, Will 3.4%
CA-10 Denham, Jeff 3.0%
WA-08 Reichert, David 3.0%
PA-07 Meehan, Pat 2.3%
TX-32 Sessions, Pete 1.9%
CA-48 Rohrabacher, Dana 1.7%
TX-07 Culberson, John 1.4%
KS-03 Yoder, Kevin 1.2%
NJ-07 Lance, Leonard 1.1%
PA-06 Costello, Ryan 0.6%

The betting position seems to be that Democrats make some inroads, but not enough to get a majority. Of course that could change by next year,

They have been saying that every year since
the losing streak began in 2010. If you recall,
last election the Repubs were supposed to
lose the house AND the senate. They lost
neither and only got stronger. They still
have no message except hate Trump, and
we saw what that got Hillary. Retirement
to her wine cellar.
If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

Remember this Dem commercial full of hatred
and violence that had Paul Ryan pushing granny
off a cliff in 2010? Where was the outcry from
CNN over the promotion of violence against
the old? They loved this commercial:

If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose.

ROTFL
Its pretty funny
Funny how EB gets so upset
Ted Nugent goes after Obama or Clinton, I just yawn
Some people on the right get so upset and have a cow. No sense of humor
Take Ted Nugent, I either yawn or chuckle over his over the top antics.
I love getting the last word when it comes to EB :-)

He really does.

This right wing obsession with CNN is baffling. If CNN was as irrelevant as they say it is, they wouldn't have to keep criticizing it 24/7.

The word "Inroads" is a pretty minimal. It implies they will have more than a token net increase. In other words they may get above 200 which is still far short of the 218 they need for a majority.

If nothing else, the fact that 23 Republican controlled districts voted for Hillary while only 12 Democratic controlled districts voted for Trump implies that Democrats will make some inroads.

Again, they've found 14 ways from Sunday
since 2010 that in every election Dems
should make inroads. So far it hasn't
happened.

The GOP should worry what happens if the Senate flips. For one thing, the Democrats may well not confirm any further appointments Golden Boy makes, like a certain Republican party did to Obama. And this would include any further SCOTUS appointments. If the Court can operate fine with 8 members, it ought not do badly with 7 or just six, right?

Another thing is the House, assuming it stays Republican, could pass any legislation it wanted, and the Senate simply would re-write the bills and pass them, which would grind the legislative process to a halt.

Or the parties could try to compromise.

Remember the Democratic advice, that it is better to get some of what you want than to go over the cliff with your flag flying?

Oh, wait, no. That wasn't said by a Democrat...

The Senate won't flip. The Senate map is really quite awful for Dems in 2018, waaaaaay too many seats Dems have to defend. That's why they seem to be more optimistic and focused on the House.

No way Golden Boy will win the nomination.

With the Trumpcare bill mess in the Senate now, they are facing two unappetizing choices: 1) Vote to repeal and replace and alienate a large number of voters, and 2) keep stalling on repeal and replace and piss off he base.

Option one would cost many Senators their jobs in the midterms. Option two may cost many Senators their jobs in the primaries. And a challenge in the primaries means less funds for the midterm election.

There is a third option, which is to repeal and not replace. That would piss off the base and the voters at large. You'd have to be an absolute Trump to back such an idiot move.

Point is, it's possible.

And who knows how else things may get screwed up between now and Nov 2018. Given who sits behind the desk at the Oval office, he may start a war in Korea just to keep Congress in "his" party's hands.
