Time Passing You By

I'm reading this isn't a new thing, older people have said this forever. When we're 10, time seems to go slowly because we confront new problems and new experiences all the time. When we're older life only runs smoothly if we get into a routine, but that also gives the illusion of time passing faster. There is less thinking going on, there is less to think about. The experts say if you want time to slow down, do a lot of new things, try and learn another language, get a hobby that involves a lot of work. I know I'm in a huge rut, I tend to do the same things every day, it's just so easy. And time is flying by. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/21/opinion/sunday/fast-time-and-the-aging-mind.html If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

First Grade seemed like it took forever. Second grade seemed half as long. By High School it came and went. Even as an adult, first out of college job I had to wait a year before I took vacation. The last 8 years are a blur of one assignment after another. Even the hobbies though don't quite slow it down sometimes. I have been trying gardening. Right now I am setting up my tomato plants, will put some in planters Jan 1. By March, try to cut and grow the cuttings, some to sell for a little cash. Now, the issue is that I am counting to the deadlines for each phase. Time flies. The President is a fink. |

I think when you're a kid you're a lot more aware of time, so it seems to go slower. I also think you're bored a lot, which makes time stop. If I'm watching a boring movie, time slows down to nothing, 5min seems like an hour. Waiting in a doctors office takes an eternity. Sitting is traffic ditto. So if you like what you're doing most of the time, life flies by. Sigh. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

I know I was bored a lot. Maybe if we had online like today I would have found more interests. I never liked what the kids did. Never liked kid stuff. Still don't. Thanksgiving I was teaching my niece more about how Blackjack works. Then told her to teach someone else so she would learn better. Had one of the adults say they thought the dealer stood on 16. So good instant feedback and unplanned. I look back to being a kid on those holidays. Hated it. You did not know what the adults knew, but you knew there was so much more they knew. Even watching football you were behind the curve. I would never want to do that again. The President is a fink. |

When you are 6 years old 1% of your life is 22 days when you are 60 years old it is 220 days. Those lengths of time feels the same to you when you are at those ages.
