Like already said, it is about fewer male whites getting college degrees. Colleges have been female majority for a decade or more now. Men are smartening up and seeing that there can be more value in a trade or some other route to make their way in life. They see how guys are treated by colleges. Lately MEN not "guys" are seeing the behavior on colleges, the demand for "safe spaces" and all the nonsense and just do not want to be around it.

Then face the fact that colleges are liberal places. Those that go thru get their indoctrination and hang out with other liberal people. While this has always been the case, it seems to have gained momentum since the 1990s.

We may be at an election that not so much causes a shift but sets it. Democrats have become the bread so to speak, attracting the bottom and top of society. GOP is getting the meat of the sandwich, the working class who does not want all the government "help" and who like in the movie "Office Space" has their biggest desire not to be hassled.

I disagree. All the men I know are happy when their children go to college. Not that that means not going to college prevents one from 'making their way in life', but it makes it harder.

You are talking about parents, I am talking about students. Colleges as a whole are well over 50% female now and climbing. Men are clearly not seeing the value anymore.

As to "making life harder" that always depends. Take a smart degree and you will do better. Take a useless one and you are actually in worse shape. I've sat near a few who have student loan debt that is halfway to a decent house in these parts. Of course no skills is worse. But the "just get any degree" thing is dead.
