The survey, conducted online in February 2019 with 1,084 adults aged 16-75 across Great Britain, asked how people would prefer Northern Ireland to vote if it were to hold a referendum on its future. Only 36% said they would like Northern Ireland to choose to stay in the Union while 18% preferred that it should leave and join the Republic of Ireland; a further 36% said that they did not mind either way and 9% did not know.

It seems like it is no longer a hot issue with 45% saying they don't care or have no opinion.

I think that UK was counting on trade and tourism with the US and the Commonwealth but COVID trashed that hope.

Longer term it will work out for them. At the least they will not fall into the hole that southern Europe is dragging the north into.

Back in the day, Boris was making nice with POTUS Trump thinking he would get a 4 year extension and the US could pick up the loss in trade due to Brexit.
