The largest bill we've had was 4,602kWh for February 2013 but it was only $348.68 in Pennsylvania. Rates were much lower in 2013. So either your customer charge has increased by a lot or your rate is going up way over $0.11 kwh.

I know that the rate rises slightly at a particular usage level. It also includes the following fees:

Temp. Green Power Financing
Renewable Energy Program
Energy Efficiency Charge
Basic Service Charge
Local Government Fee
Universal Energy Charge

Just got my electric bill for June. It was 4,337kwh for $583.47 (includes fees and taxes). That is the largest June bill that I have had. It may be time to start looking at building my own power source.

Ours was 272. Didn't see the kwh as our bill is electronic. I suspect next months will be considerably higher? Our ac seldom cycles off.

I have 2 rooms in my house on air. Office
and bedroom, where I spend 90% of my
time. Why would I pay for the entire
house to be cooled if I spend 90% of my
time not in those rooms. I'm not king
Farouk. And those two air conditioners
never run at the same time, I can only
be in one room.

I am considering going top the redneck air conditioner:

I'm a redneck because I use energy wisely?
Whatever, keep cooling the rooms you
rarely use and whining about the electric
bill. Mine was $118 last month.

Sorry, that was not directed at you. It was supposed to say "I am going to a redneck air conditioner".

That's 1/3 of a KWH per hour, how is that possible.
$20 of your bill will be for taxes and access fee's.
Do you not have a fridge or electric lights? That's
the bill we got 50 years ago.

Years ago my wife used to unplug her microwave and coffee pot so the LED clock wouldn't be running when she wasn't using it.

This house came with a swamp cooler as well, but we don't like the damp feeling air.

We shut rooms and closets and close the vents in the spare rooms not being used. This central air is a little strange to me. When it gets this hot, for some reason hot hot air gets sucked down the exhaust range hood, so I plug it off in the summer. It's just stupid hot here. I'm gonna take a break and go north for a bit.
