Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25013 | To celebrate Lent, I'm having a big T-bone steak tonight, Ash Wednesday, and a pot roast every Friday till Lent is over. Yum.. The 'fasting' part is a joke. It's how I eat every day of the year: "People who are 18-59 are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. A proper fast means only one full meal is eaten that day. Snacks can be consumed in the morning, afternoon or evening. The snacks are dependent on when the full meal is eaten. It can be had at any time." Eat one big meal and snacks all thru the day is NOT fasting. A real fast, the kind the Hindu's have, is not eating anything at all till the fasting is over. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

If you go out for a beer with the steak be sure to not risk a DUI and get Uber to take you home. The President is a fink. |

I never drink away from home, unless I'm in a casino hotel. I'd walk before I give money to Uber. I rarely eat out because it's never as good as what I cook at home. I even grind my own burger. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Why wouldn't you give money to Uber? I used them once and it was great. There is some imaginary idea that cabs are better but I don't believe in fairy tales like that. The President is a fink. |

It has nothing to do with better or worse. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Evenbob Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 146 Posts: 25013 | I've found something I like about the Church. In the 12th century two Irish Catholic monks were visiting Paris. At an outdoor bazarre, they found a seller using a still to make alcohol for perfume. They purchased the still and took it to Ireland. After experimenting for awhile, they figured out how to distill grain to make whiskey. An industry was born. It made it's way to Scotland and eventually to the New World a few hundred years later. I'm very grateful to those industrious monks. Too bad god had nothing to so with it. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

For lent I'm going to let FrG win an argument for a change. He deserves it. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
