Over seas sales where people still go to movies. Darn few people go to movies in the USA today. I think a great many movie theaters would be re-focused but for the fact that many movie theaters are anchor tenants in malls and not quite free to experiment. With everything being streamed and many movie premiers being online rather than in theaters, the shows are diminishing in importance. The money seems to be in the blog world interacton with the characters and fellow fans. To me this walking dead is utter nonsense but they have tv shows that are nothing but chats about the walking dead and websites that feature walking dead interviews. |

It is generally believed that 2002 was the apex for movie tickets sold in the USA and Canada (estimated 1.576 billion tickets), and that year will never be topped. 1 Spider-Man 2 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers 3 Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones 4 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 5 My Big Fat Greek Wedding 6 Signs 7 Austin Powers in Goldmember 8 Men in Black II 9 Ice Age 10 Chicago 11 Catch Me If You Can 12 Die Another Day But China is going to allow about 30 films a year into their domestic market. Last year they earned an average of $85 million apiece. The number could easily double in a few years. 1 Zootopia 2 Warcraft 3 Captain America: Civil War 4 The Great Wall 5 Kung Fu Panda 3 6 The Jungle Book (2016) 7 Skiptrace 8 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 9 X-Men: Apocalypse 10 Doctor Strange 11 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 12 Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them 13 The Angry Birds Movie 14 Independence Day: Resurgence 15 Jason Bourne 16 Ice Age: Collision Course 17 Star Trek Beyond 18 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows 19 Alice Through the Looking Glass 20 The Revenant 21 The Secret Life of Pets 22 London Has Fallen 23 The Legend of Tarzan 24 Finding Dory 25 Gods of Egypt 26 Moana 27 The BFG 28 The Divergent Series: Allegiant 29 Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 30 The Huntsman Winter's War Sherlock: The Abominable Bride (BBC TV show) |

I saw 10 of these in theaters. 5 of them I saw multiple times in theaters. Good times! “A straight man will not go for kids.” - AZDuffman |

Here is a ranking of the years and the estimated number of movie tickets sold (between 1 billion and 1.6 billion) 1998-2004 is the peak number of tickets sold. Outside of foreign box office sales, the only real avenue for growth is to sell more expensive tickets for Dolby Stereo, IMAX, beer and pizza, etc. Of course ancillary sales of books, costumes, princess dresses, video games, amusement rides, toy cars, etc. is where the real money is to be made. I wonder if theaters could give away extra-extra-salty popcorn and over-over-over-charge for drinks :) Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |

The problem with that is you lose on the big screen experience. I saw this at the office where a few people you'd expect to line up for the premiere, instead waited quite a while. as I mentioned, one of them got the Han Solo gets killed spoiler while waiting. Donald Trump is a one-term LOSER |
