“God is real. God loves, you, God wants the best for you,” he said. Hearsay at it's worst.. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |

Chris Pratt has a personal experience of God and is sharing that truth with others. Do you think he is lying? “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Each are talking about a personal experience that the listener knows is not real but is nevertheless a strongly held belief system. So if you have seen a UFO or just hold a strong belief about them in which you accept their existence and want to see one, it makes no difference in your truthfulness. Its similar to a belief in Leprechauns and other 'wee people' standing under a forest-floor mushroom with their pots of gold. Of course you don't believe in their existence but that does not mean you need argue with those who do. It is particularly unwise to argue with one of those True Believers if it happens to be Saint Patrick's Day and the True Believer is the one paying for all that Guinness you are swilling. |

| FrGamble Member since: Oct 24, 2012 Threads: 67 Posts: 7596 | There are significant differences in the case of someone who knows God is real and knows God loves them and someone claiming to be abducted by UFOs. The believer in God is not claiming any physical change or something that would seem to produce or require tangible evidence to believe. Everyone knows that there is a higher power or God who created all things. Every human being besides a few strange birds believe in some kind of God. However, there are very few people who believe in alien abduction or leprechauns. I've learned it is best not to argue with those who believe in unicorns or real atheists because they only have strong passions about the issue and when confronted they get angry, unreasonable, and mean. “It is with the smallest brushes that the artist paints the most exquisitely beautiful pictures.” ( |

Also it would be rather difficult to put someone in fear of eternal damnation from a tiny little fellow who lives under a toad stool. |

clearly not true.
define how many constitute a few strange birds. 200 million plus? 750 million? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_atheism
You can say exactly the same thing about arguing with people who believe in god. "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Daniel Patrick Moynihan |

He's deluded, like all god believers. Being deluded by others and self delusion has always been rampant, no more so than today. You can find reinforcement for your delusions everywhere now. If you take a risk, you may lose. If you never take a risk, you will always lose. |
