pew Member since: Jan 8, 2013 Threads: 4 Posts: 1232 | I've been in severe 24/7 pain and one thing I learned is to never discount someone else who says they are in pain. At one time I would think oh come on suck it up or think the person was weak. No more. I now give anyone the benefit of the doubt when they claim to be hurting. I see no problem with addiction vs. pain. Also when a person medicates for severe pain they tend to be able to stop the drugs if the pain ends. |

However, sometimes stopping is difficult and you may remember my assertion that many addicts are not addicted to heroin, they are addicted to the needle. It is not the effect of the drug to which they are addicted its having control over their lives that they are addicted to. That morning 'set up' beside them at night is what they dream about. |

Was never quite sure what you meant by this. Are you saying you can dose with heroin 24/7 daily for a month and quit? I don't think even massive will of mind against being addicted could survive that routine. But I could be wrong. Never did heroin. I knew someone who did LSD for a month and quit. That I find believable. There was a kid I knew in high school who claimed to do heroin (I know he did lots of other drugs) but he said he was afraid to do it more than twice in a month. He ended up in a drug rehab anyway. Not sure what it was from though. You believe in an invisible god, and dismiss people who say they are trans? Really? |

LSD for a month That's crazy This is from somebody who did a lot of LSD in the past My personal experience , its actually hard to do for 2 straight days, let alone a month Its kind of a weird drug. Its actually hard to trip 2 nights in a row Believe me, I tried Every other day can be done Its also not conducive to sleep. You generally don't get a good nights sleep if any sleep so the next day kind of exhausted. I used to trip at a lot of Dead Concerts seeing them several nights in a row. You could trip hard at a concert and take the same dose next concert and nothing. You take some more, nothing I left it at that, not going to start gobbling it. Eventually I learned to trip every other show when available. Easy to get at the west coast shows, hard to get on the east coast shows Sometimes we live no particular way but our own - Grateful Dead "Eyes of the World" |

If you are more specific, depending on the circumstances, some doctors will up the dose or change the medication. If it works from 2-6pm but your next dose isn't supposed to be until 8 that's what you say. Or if it's not strong enough to begin with. petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | I have seen several Dr's who won't treat pain at all and only refer to a pain management specialist. I am guessing you are familiar with how fast the rules are changed. Here where I am, people have to drive more than 50 miles to get to a Dr. who will write a scrip for pain meds. petroglyph Member since: Aug 3, 2014 Threads: 25 Posts: 6227 | The addicts I have known weren't using to get high, they were using to stop the sickness from Opiods. Addiction is mental, physical dependence to narcotics is unavoidable if to much to long, the detoxing is identical. Some only have to stop the dependence.
